Soo, by that logic it’s either going to be 3rd party or we got WW3 going on US soil that Brandon gets to enjoy a 3rd term at the office.

This is me right now. The job market has been so shit I’ve just keeping it together while trying to utilize my accumulated network of connections and start my own business.
- Comment on New mobile features are sh*t these days 3 weeks ago:
Even in its current iteration, barring material conditions that disallow me from keeping my foldable phone, I think I’ll keep owning one for the foreseeable future. It truly feels like something new in a sea of black rectangular slabs.

My office had a period where we used LibreOffice and others because of some licensing dispute with Microsoft. However that period of peace ended when we migrated to 365.

I have tinnitus and having no white noise basically will make things louder than without any noise. This has given me the ability to fall asleep in virtually any conditions. I don’t know whether that’s a good thing or not.
- Comment on The air begins to leak out of the overinflated AI bubble 2 months ago:
If there is even a GPU being sold. It’s much more profitable for Nvidia to just make compute focused chips than upgrading their gaming lineup. GeForce will just get the compute chips rejects and laptop GPU for the lower end parts. After the AI bubble burst, maybe they’ll get back to their gaming roots.

- Comment on Microsoft’s controversial Windows Recall feature is coming back in October 2 months ago:
I’m currently dual booting and still uses Windows for gaming since I tried gaming on Linux and I basically got around half the FPS that I usually got on Windows (I have Nvidia GPU). I think I’ll fully migrate when I upgrade to an AMD GPU sometime in the future.
- Comment on KDR = 0.60 3 months ago:
That’s why recent games moved to counting eliminations instead of kills. If you contribute to the kill even if you didn’t land the killing blow it’ll count as an elimination.
- Comment on Cars Are Now Rolling Computers Now. So What Happens When They Stop Getting Updates? 3 months ago:
You don’t really need connected cars for that. My car has no smart features but still has a remote start capability. It uses the car remote to trigger it instead of cellular connection.

Passwords and lotsa creds. I know an infra engineer who stores all of the keys to the projects he’s involved in his message to self Slack. When I asked him about it he told me ‘when I found out that the company billed my time 5x my salary to clients I stopped caring’ and I was like OK that’s fair ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- Comment on Valve rumored to be working on Android emulator for Steam 4 months ago:
The thing is, Valve works mostly as a collective with mostly flat structure. So there can’t be a higher up ordering people around to make HL3. The whole team needs to believe in it.

- Comment on Smart devices are turning out to be a poor investment 7 months ago:
Google has this culture that you need to make something to be something, usually someone will have an idea to make a product, then the product is quite successful and they get promoted away from managing that product.
Then someone gets assigned to manage that product, since that someone new also wants to make “something” to be something, they put their own spin on that product.
Since they’re not the one who made the product in the first place, they missed what made the product great.
This causes the product to lose quality, and therefore the user base. With a reduced user base, there’s no justification to keep the product alive, so Google pulled the plug on the product.
It’s a vicious cycle that results in a lot of things made and killed by Google.

- Comment on Dell tells remote workers that they won’t be eligible for promotion 8 months ago:
My work has become one of the few places that’s still fully remote and it got so competitive my boss is having a field day in recruitment. The standards got so high I don’t even think I can still get in if I applied today. The big tech layoffs certainly didn’t help.
- Comment on Dell tells remote workers that they won’t be eligible for promotion 8 months ago:
Working remotely made me realize that I wasted 4 hours every day on the commute. It made me able to work, spend time with my family, AND still have a hobby.
