Also Europe is less run by corporations.
- Comment on Why do residential skyscrapers always seem to include balconies that never get used? 4 weeks ago:
I live in Berlin, and while I don’t have a balcony myself, I spend a lot of time enviously starring at my neighbours that do, as they use them quite a bit.
- Comment on Why do residential skyscrapers always seem to include balconies that never get used? 4 weeks ago:
A friend of mine in Toronto is forbidden to smoke on his balcony now.
- Comment on Google looks to be fully shutting down unsupported extensions and ad blockers in Chrome, such as uBlock Origin – which might push some folks to switch to Firefox 1 month ago:
If you have older family members, you could try just installing Firefox for them and tell them it’s their internet now. This worked for me parents.

Sorry if you get this a lot, but have you tried Bitwarden? It’s been a while since I compared but last I checked I found it miles better than LastPass.

I’ve read that Steam is accepting refunds for GTAV - I’d recommend anyone who bought it there refund it.

Probably will be available on Gamepass Ultimate or whatever the streaming one is called.

Maybe to keep pace with trends, and be able to put a check in that box amongst competitors

Boost also. I had it for Reddit but used Sync mostly. I open Lemmy on my phone a few times a week, so found Sync for Lemmy a bit too pricy. Love Boost!

- Comment on Microsoft has gone too far: including a Game Pass ad in the Settings app ushers in a whole new age of ridiculous over-advertising 4 months ago:
I went with a Mac for my last work computer refresh. Had Windows before that. Don’t have a Linux option.

I thought MiniDisc players were more fun, if less practical.
- Comment on YouTube’s ad blocker crackdown now includes third-party apps 6 months ago:
In order to use the platform in the EU, you either opt into personalised ads or pay a monthly subscription. So yes, I’m aware they’re using my data for the ads.
Google does as well, but they don’t seem to be able to offer me even relatively relevant ads based on my interests.
- Comment on YouTube’s ad blocker crackdown now includes third-party apps 6 months ago:
Yeah I don’t mind ads if they’re relevant - I scroll through insta reels from time to time, and am always getting ads about concerts I’m interested in, restaurants I haven’t tried and sales at shops I go to.
I honestly don’t mind so much, and if it’s not relevant to me I can scroll past without having to watch.
- Comment on How does the day-to-day work of not wearing shoes in the house? 7 months ago:
I learned from TV, American shows like Seinfeld or Simpsons where the characters are always wearing shoes. Growing up in Canada we didn’t do that and I thought it was weird

I picked this up over the summer, but didn’t get too far into it before spending some extended time away from my PC. Will be looking forward to checking it out next year.
I do hope they manage Steamdeck support by then – I remember it working okay when I tried it, but I think there was poor controller support.
- Comment on how do i pick out a good avocado 1 year ago:
I’ve had a few experiences recently where the stem wiggled, and the skin was browned nicely, but when I cut into it and tried to peel it, the bottome part was extremely hard and difficult to separate from the peel, but the top part was easily peeled and ready to eat – Do you know what causes that or how to avoid it?

- Comment on [MEGATHREAD] Starfield - Your experiences! 1 year ago:
It’s better than I thought it would be but not a great primary experience. In space and exploring planets you can enjoy 30+ FPS, but in the main cities, your framerate will be in the 20s. I haven’t encountered combat there so it’s less of an issue, but still not great
- Comment on [MEGATHREAD] Starfield - Your experiences! 1 year ago:
Same. Loving my time with it. It’s great that they’ve captured the things I loved about their old games (no surprise) but too bad they can’t alleviate the immersion breaking issues of their old games (again no surprise).

I’ve been evaluating this for the last few weeks, and have decided to migrate all my notes over.
The free 1gb of cloud storage is incredibly generous, and since I don’t use much media in my notes, it’s really all I need.
Interested to see how they price it in the long run.
