Slime molds aren’t fungi, sadly. OP will now be launched into the sun for their crime

Slime moulds are not in the fungi branch of life? Does that mean they’re more closely related to … um don’t know the right words … vegetables?
bryophile@lemmy.zip 3 weeks ago
No they are neither fungi, plant or animal. They are single celled organisms so more closely related to amoeba or algae.

not fungi or plants or animals, but a secret fourth thing

Those are xenomorph eggs. You got an infestation of aliens
Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 weeks ago I’ve only seen mushrooms like this in sci-fi. They’re usually bigger tho.
ToastedRavioli@midwest.social 3 weeks ago When I was a kid we would go hiking in a creek bed that ran inbetween all the houses. One day I came upon some little bulbous mushrooms like this that were growing out of a huge downed tree. When you poked one super gently with a stick, it would explode a cloud of green spores out of it. Weirdest shit I ever found, and I never saw them again. I would have sworn it was like the flood from halo or something

Man, slime mold is cool as fuck!
It actually exists as a multi nucleated single cell, then divides when it’s time for reproduction. It actually shows signs of intelligence and is at least partially responsible for the rail system in Tokyo.

You definitely have a moisture problem in your home if this is in your wallpaper
Aww, they don’t look like a problem at all! 😍🤗
