It’s funny how Obama led the explosion in methane and fracking, but didn’t like to take credit, and now Trump is reluctantly presiding over a transition to renewables that he cant really brag about.

In my wildest fever dreams, I never imagined any president would permanently impair the transit of oil through the Strait of Hormuz. Yet here we are.

Trump may still attack Kharg Island, have Iran retaliate, and cap Middle Eastern oil and natural gas production for years.

I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that there are bribes from the US oil industry involved in that decision, because that’s one of the main groups profiting off the current US fuckup in the middle-east.

That’s what I find infuriating. The green transition is underway despite the opposition of many in various governments. Imagine what could be done with some real political will behind it

There is real political will behind it - from the Chinese Communist Party. It’s their subsidies/planned economy that is driving this.

China is definitely pushing on renewables and battery tech, and that’s good.

It must be said it’s not purely done out of concern for the planet, there’s lots of strategic thinking about it regarding energy independence given that China imports a lot of oil.
