  It’s often said that it’s easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism, but it seems vastly more difficult for people to imagine the end of the state, so much so that it’s equated to the end of the world.

  Both US and Russia have tactical nuclear weapons that would allow continued settlement outside of 2-5km (better being upwind), with Russia (Iran for that matter) having Hypersonic delivery. So there is a “no other state” solution. Air burst weapons limit long term radiation in earth. Hiroshima (air bursted) was deemed habitable after the fires shut off. Both Hiroshima (area) and Nagasaki had normal life expectancies for those who moved there after the event. So an “empty the other state” solution exists too.

    Your solution favors the wealthy who have the means to escape. The poor will be the ones to suffer and the elite will continue to peddle their elitism elsewhere.

    As an alternative to your plan, we could give the week’s notice and, when all the elite have escaped, nuke everything but the holy land. Problem solved. “The meek shall inherit the earth” and all that.
