Just from seeing the clip, it very clearly comes off as more sarcastic than a serious take. A tongue in cheek explanation for why people would go to the island for reasons other than pedophilia.
This is also coming from another clip where he said it was important to investigate everything in the files and not just release every name immediately since politicians and celebrities would have been there for other reasons. To paraphrase: He was the guy who knew everyone inviting you to his private island with a bunch of other rich people.

I have friends and colleagues with different intellectual capacities (and, as proud as I am, I can recognise sometimes I’m a big idiot), but they all seem to have their hearts in the right place, at least enough not to defend pedo murderers. 🤷
