  Lets be real:

  Some people value “success” and status over ethics.

  Like my mom doesn’t even care if I become a souless CEO that fund wars, as long as its “legal”, there wouldn’t be any stigma.

  Like some people just like the idea of a “winner”

  You are a pro-democracy activist that got arrested? Loser, disgrace to the family.

  You lead a successful rebellion? OMG that’s my son! 我感到好驕傲阿! (I’m so proud of you!)

  Yea anyways, now I’ll renegate on my promises and send secret police to crush dissidents, mom would approve and be like “they deserved it, they are threatening my son’s right to rule”.

  Hypothetically speaking of course, I’ll never do dictator stuff, not like I even got a chance to do it.

  My mom used to say I should be a lawyer because of my ability to argue. I know she didn’t mean anything bad by it, but I always took it as an insult lol
