Narrator: “They didn’t.”
LOL, like we took control like the DotCom crash or The Great Recession, or the pandemic.
We can only hope to gain control by organizing and exercizing our labour power. Until then, the political class would keep serving whoever holds capital at the moment and bail them out with our surplus.
They’re talking about humans. Those are mammals with value.
You and I are the working class. We are not humans.
Sorry bossman. I forgot my place.
Oh no, not me, I never lost control.
Am I face to face with the man who sold the world?
Lol. Lmao even.
Nope. Once the bubble bursts the squeeze-out of the middle class will be truly begun as pensions fail and governments on the edge of default are forced to squeeze them to repay their debts to the wealthy.
More likely, it’ll shave a percent or two off GDP for a year or so, and that’ll be it.
What an unbelievably optimistic opinion piece.
You’ll lose your job through cascading cuts and pay more in cost of living, giving the rich another massive opportunity to harvest up assets within a 30-year period.
Barely the same agents with most of the resources will rush into capitalise it, “control” from a few is a perpetual war…
Humans being in control is what got us in this mess in the first place though.
capitalism and the ultra wealthy are in control. and you could barely call these “human”
I don’t think I would call the (tech) elite running the show today “human beings”
Oh, they’re human all right. The worst kind of human.
I'm curious to see how it will go with Albania. They have Diella Ai system in place. It's an Ai government.

(Ok, the above article is mostly not true, the story was made up by an Onion-style satirical portal.)
This article is just a ploy to get people to lose more money upwards.

No.
When the AI bubble bursts, those with money will invest and hoover up wealth and assets at a 90% discount. The vast majority will continue to scrape whatever life they can together and try to survive, and the government will enforce ever more draconian austerity policies.

Don’t forget the part where taxpayers bail out the billionaires!

Yes. This will hurt mostly small investors, wage workers in everything less essential than factory jobs, service sphere, such people.
Humans that will take back control already have much of that control, the difference mostly lies in slavery being formally illegal.
But the biggest effect will be similar to that of the dotcom bubble, I think.
Ah, whatever. I’m just bored of this stage of development, let them be done with it and show the results. I want to see what happens after. It must be something interesting. There must be some movement in the opposite direction, if temporary, like the Web in the 00s for some time had this emotional flavor of a rainy Tokyo street at spring, and peer-to-peer networks had lots of popularity.
I think with all the doom and gloom we should remember that the next stage is always interesting if it doesn’t involve more murder and torture.
Say, when this bubble bursts, conversational LLM-based user interfaces will, instead of the solution for every problem solving none, become just another thing. That might be good, it might make typical UX sane again.
Also it’s almost logical that communication with another person is also how you’d want to communicate with a service.
Then after that we might see less of those very bloat and omnipresent telemetry that nobody likes. They will be less of “the new digital oil” and more of bother that doesn’t buy that much.

The GPUs will go fast, but not the data centers that nobody wants for any other purpose. So much for the capital assets.
The intangibles and “intellectual property” will be reset to a value much closer to zero. And if this cuts a few billionaires down to centimillionaires, so much the better. Fuck 'em.
