    Many people fail to grasp this, fascism is the mutual merger of state and corporate power.

    Both work to enhance the control the other exerts in specific areas, such as corporate capture of regulatory bodies, and state capture of media.

    Fearful idiots are easily duped by the state and media into ‘othering’ a group of people.

    Claims that the ‘other’ group are weaklings eroding the country but powerful enough to be running some kind of shadow government are common in fascism.

    This gives more ‘reason’ for the fearful idiots to push their ‘saviour’ figure into the role of dictator.

  It’s the natural evolution of unchecked right wing power and greed in a capitalist system, it’s pretty much as far right as you can go. Get the “right” person in power, the right propaganda systems in place, the “right” economic hardships in place and you can easily manipulate enough people to let you become a dictator and even want you to become dictator.

  Trick them with excessive nationalistic theater and they believe they’re being “patriots” defending their country from the big bad enemy you’ve made of your political opposition. You cannot allow that opposition to ever regain power that could threaten you so you literally crush them and the machinery that allows them to grasp at power.

  Pure speculation:

  Reality is complicated. Nuance is hard. Fascism dumbs it all down; things were better before, it’s their fault things are bad now, let’s fuck them up to make things good again.

  Nihilistic opportunists love it because it’s easy to float to the top amidst a wave of tribalistic idiots. Tribalistic idiots desperately want it to be true; if the problems I face are secretly simple, it means I’m not actually dumb for not understanding what was going on before.
