  I’m surprised how much hate this gets. I, for one, am loving the the character designs, backgrounds, the animation, and especially the audio. The soundtrack absolutely slaps. That orchestral music during the fight was an outstanding choice. That said, my experience with GitS is limited to the movie from 1995 and Innocence, and I’ve never been particularly attached to their art style. I have to say I also actually like this goofy Major more. I’m hoping the quality won’t go down after the first episode.

  I am in love.

  It’s delivering on everything the PVs made me hope for.

  They added kawaii to my kakkoii and I’m happy about it.

  I'd like to see someone at least explain why they hated it. My only complaint is the utterly breakneck pace of the first episode, but I didn't mind the aesthetic at all. The colors were strikingly beautiful, and the animation itself definitely reminded me of 80's anime. There's a charm to it's eccentricity.

    I’m not sure yet, but this might actually land next to Dungeon Meshi for me.

    It’s just so full of charm.

  What did they do to the characters.

  I remember people complaining that the SAC style made everyone look like apes. SAC looks beautiful compared to this

  Why did they infantilize the Major? This feels like the feed the manga into ai and asked for an adhd cartoon. I hate it so much.

      The only thing about it that I consider positive was the opening song. I dislike everything else, from character designs, art style, pacing, cinematography, color palette, character expressions, plot structure, exposition, score, to animation, and whatever else there is.

      And before someone uhmakschually me, I am aware that this is based on the manga, but the anime movie is a lot more iconic than the manga, and to me GitS is the 1995 movie. This version here, I hate, and no “Uhm, but the manga…” does change that.

  I am not a fan of the art style, and in general, I hold SAC with high regard (everything but 2045) so I dunno.

  That said, the exaggerated elements remind me of the PS1 game cinematics, which I liked.
