So, what are the best spotify alternatives that actually pay the artists? Does that exist? The only semi-viable alternative I know is Deezer. Tidal apparently is for audiophiles
erm what the freak...

im using tidal because it supposedly pays more than spotify, deezer and apple music. (also because of privacy concerns with spotify) i’m not an audiophile and tidal works a little different to spotify, but it’s good.
just know that there’s no hand-off or remote controlling of different sessions (i.e. spotify plays through your browser and you control it from your phone), unless devices are specifically built for that (like speakers with tidal support)

Ditch Spotify.
Leeching from YT Music:
InnerTune
InnerTune (fork)
Kreate
Bloomee
Harmony
Yattee (The only option I’m aware of for iOS)
Self Hosted solutions:
Finamp for Jellyfin (iOS)
Fintunes for Jellyfin (iOS)
YouAmp for Subsonic
DSub2000 for Subsonic

I so so so want to but if you listen to ANY amount of underground music there are a lot of artists that ONLY drop music on Spotify. I’ve tested tidal and qobuz and I’d lose like 60%~ of my library

They don’t release on YouTube Music at all?
If they don’t, thats odd. It’d be very limiting for reach to only release on one platform, and if they’re that underground you could always ask them to make their music purchasable on sites like Bandcamp. Doesn’t mean they will but it doesn’t hurt either.
There’s also other ways to obtain music, but don’t do anything illegal :p

I appreciate the list. I’m on my families subscription and (due to some personal issues) we can’t cancel for the next ~6 months, so we’re gonna weigh the pros/cons then

Spotube got hit with a cease and desist. Do you maybe know anything else to move over my existing playlists?
Turret3857@infosec.pub 5 hours ago
SpotDL will download youtube music equivalents to Spotify tracks in 128kbps or 256kbps if you have YT premium
Spotify Import for Jellyfin will import your Spotify playlists to Jellyfin (provided the songs already exist in your Jellyfin server)
Lidarr allows you to import Spotify playlists. (I do not endorse piracy, use Lidarr in ways legal to your local laws and regulations ;p )

They’ll easily catch on and ban the account that has 8 different IP addresses that are on at the same time, and that’s still financially supporting them. None of the software Ive shared financially supports the abusive aspects of the industry in any meaningful way.
