  I work at a university. I only teach between 1400 and 1700. We’re a very small university though, only one bachelor degree and a few standalone courses.

  No, sorry mate. If you’re running your own instance, you gotta send your usename and password with every request, as the first line of the post. That way it gets interpret as a basic auth HTTP header and makes it able to federate to the main server.
