He totally meant it like this. Like thank you for not paying attention to all other dumpster fires.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Iran from local problems.

And here I was thinking it was just a bullshit crappy landlord phrase, but you’re right, it signals his whole intent.

Is the implication that we shouldn’t be upset about bombing Iran because they’re also doing other awful things?
Whenever they do anything people seem so eager to claim that it’s just a distraction from whatever it was that was just happening, which itself was also just a distraction.
I’ve seen literally everything mentioned hear described as a distraction meant to draw your attention from something else.Maybe, just maybe , none of it’s a distraction, they don’t care what you care about or notice because it won’t change what they do and they’re just absolutely awful people working their way down their terrible agenda.

I interpreted it as reinforcing that we need to pay attention to all the things on the list and not fall for the distraction.

they’re just absolutely awful people working their way down their terrible agenda.
- Tariffs - destabilize foreign relations, isolate the US even more than it already is, reinforce American exceptionalism and xenophobia, personally profit off of market fluctuations
- Elon / DOGE - solidify authoritarian and oligarchic control by ripping apart internal buearacratic barriers, placing spies and saboteurs in critical positions, dismantling key federal agencies, and preventing enforcement of any regulations against corporate interests.
- ICE - reinforce xenophobia, incite civil unrest as justification for military oppression, use vulnerable populations as scapegoats for all of our economic problems
- Universities - inhibit progress by destabilizing and occupying their greatest political threat. Youth without major responsibilities or jobs, and old retirees, are literally the two most powerful and vulnerable political forces in the world.
- Gaza and Iran are literally the same thing - support Israel and the Military Industrial Complex. Spread hatred and fear as a means of reinforcing authoritarian control.
The budget bill, too. It’s all fascism, all the time. These aren’t distractions. These are all the same threat, and we need to band together and put an end to it.

None of it is a distraction, you are 100% correct. Steve Bannon called this “flooding the zone”. When Fascism takes over, it hits hard.

I swear I’ve heard this before 🤔

Wagging the dog for Israel’s colonialist ambitions.

Yup. And no one is talking about the theft of 250 million acres of public land, either. Netanyahu and Trump are both bombing Iran for political reasons and blaming it on nukes that probably don’t exist.
Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 9 months ago
Of course they don’t exist, US intelligence even said so. The fact that there is zero radiation measured after the attacks shows there wasn’t even any nuclear bomb producing equipment in the areas.
cyrano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 months ago
what is the story about the public land? I missed that
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemm.ee 9 months ago
Here’s an interactive map which shows the scale of the looting:
Here’s an article that goes into the specifics a bit more:
grist.org/…/public-land-sale-republican-senate-bi…
They’re selling public land (trying to, anyway) to the highest bidder, with no rules about how the land will be used. Expect private golf courses, Airbnbs, luxury summer homes, etc.
pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 9 months ago
The public lands thing is breaking my heart. I hope they’re used by Magas and they now can’t use them anymore. The one in Washington State is definitely like that.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemm.ee 9 months ago
It’s so sad! I can’t stop crying about it. Hiking is my entire life. I live in Washington and looked at an interactive map of the land they’re trying to sell. All of my favorite spots are in danger.
If you look at the map you’ll see how stupid it is… they’re cutting everything into tiny pieces so that even the land they don’t sell will lose it’s recreational value. The PCT will likely be completely ruined because of this. The way they’re cutting it up… there’s no logic to it. They’re doing this to hurt us.
