The final patch like one of the final patches from Terraria or a final final patch?

The last patch with new content. Bugfixes will still follow.

This one is supposed to be the final patch. They’ve stated that they made the game they intended to make, and are moving on.
But… Originally they said they were never going to add new subclasses, and they did. They’re full of surprises.

I’m sure they didn’t intend for act 3 to be as gutted as it is when compared to act 1 and 2. It’s a shame.

Man, i love this game but it’s so massive that i can’t ever sit down and play it. I really should make the space and time one day and go through the entire thing

I’m always surprised these posts go to general gaming communities but nobody thinks to post to !baldurs_gate_3@lemmy.world

How is the modding scene these days? Seems like there’s a lot in the patch addressing that, but are things still more aesthetic?

I’ve heard it mentioned in several places that some people/groups have been working on full campaign mods if that’s what you mean. Obviously it’s gonna take awhile to get those 100% ready, but it’s definitely in the works.
I feel in a couple of years we’ll probably have some quality campaign mods akin to the ones we’ve seen in Skyrim like Enderal.

Awesome!
I wonder if things will organize around a “unofficial” modding API like Harmony for Rimworld, Forge for Minecraft, SMAPI for Stardew Valley, and so on? I guess it depends if some hero dev team does it and there’s enough “demand” to built a bunch of stuff on it.
Skyrim and some other games stayed more fragmented, others like CP2077 just never hit critical mass I guess.

Some time ago the internal tools to build levels and campaigns “leaked,” so people are working on that, but right now it’s mostly textures, cheats, items, etc.

Just waiting for the definitive edition to release 🤞

All I want is to be able to go back to previous acts. Basically to potter about discovering things after finishing the game.

Spoiler Act 3
> There were two copies of Taming Hope: Part Two in the House of Hope. The second copy of that book has now rightfully been replaced with Taming Hope: Part Three.
Nice!

This game is so good. I hope Larian builds something even better for their next go.
brucethemoose@lemmy.world 3 days ago
Oh man, imagine if they did a Shadowrun game. Take their fantasy credentials/writing and mix it with cyberpunk…

Now I’m imagining this too.

I wasn’t a fan of a number of choices they made in their RPG systems in the Original Sin games, so until we see what their next game is, I’ll wonder how much of the heavy lifting done in BG3 was due to D&D rather than their designers. Still, BG3 knocked basically everything out of the park, so even a lesser RPG from this team will still likely be great. It would be nice to have the CRPG equivalent of Starfield from Larian, since most sci-fi RPGs tend to stick to the post-apocalypse.

Did you like rogue trader at all?

While we’re here, !crpg@lemmy.world definitely could use some love (and by love I mean posters).
