I don’t understand this meme. This mini game was probably the only easy part of my childhood.
This explains much.

no shit, I won 90% of the time, just click click click, there was a timing trick to win everytime, was not rng.
Schmeckinger@lemmy.world 3 months ago
It’s complete RNG.
Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 3 months ago
Nah. It was totally time-able. I nailed this almost every time.
mememuseum@lemmy.world 3 months ago
I love using save states in emulators to win this every time.
Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 3 months ago
TIL there are people that never learned the timing trick with this game.

There’s a trick? I thought it was just straight up rigged like casino games.
theneverfox@pawb.social 3 months ago
Nope, apparently you can get screwed by RNG, but you were in control. I don’t remember it being particularly hard either

LET’S GO GAMBLING!
(after 2nd thing don’t line up) AW DANG IT!
FierySpectre@lemmy.world 3 months ago
Seeing as you had about a 3 frame window to line up the middle one (and pure chance to line up the bottom one), don’t be too hard on yourself

“Very rigged and very unfair”

It’s so easy to get free guys in Mario 3 that these were kind of pointless. The ones where you could win a hammer bros suit, on the other hand… Those were valuable.
FiniteLooper@lemm.ee 3 months ago
I feel like I only ever won this like 2 or 3 times total
Kolanaki@yiffit.net 3 months ago
At least you control where it stops and can use skill to always get what you want; unlike a real slot machine.
Hobbes_Dent@lemmy.world 3 months ago
You could win that one though. It was time-able iirc.
FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 months ago
Yeah well tell that to me when I was 13.
DmMacniel@feddit.org 3 months ago
how do you time something when it uses a random delay?

Kolanaki@yiffit.net 3 months ago
RNG manipulation to get the initial delay to be exactly what you want. Or just wait a few cycles to see what time table you’ve been given before you hit the button to stop the scroll.
