Perhaps. But the assumption that Aliens would find us perverted implies that this attitude is the normal one when prudism is the freakshow. Every media technology from cave painting to the internet and everything in between has been co-opted if not dominated by porn.
Comment on Why do we produce so much porn?
MrQuallzin@lemmy.world 12 hours agoI’m not reading this as OP shaming porn. The “fucking perverts, aren’t we?” reads (to me) as them lumping themselves in with the rest of us.
Yes, we’re indeed fucking perverts, and it’s fucking great!

I mean if you look at ALL the species that have ever lived on earth in the history of earth, how many had the same sexual drive as humans? That would be in the 0.xxxxx percentage.
If you want to use logic, it would be logical to assume that chances are that aliens ARE NOT as sexually driven as us.

Wait… what? Animals are like… mostly driven by food and sex. Humans are not an outlier. Animals also don’t have human morals or value consent, so many will attempt to fuck humans or other species against their consent, often very harmfully for the subject. Animals masturbate. Animals have incredible specializations specifically for sexual selection, with no impact or even detrimental effects for their survival. Humans aren’t even the only animals to have recreational sex. All of evolution is optimizing for the best probability to survive and have sex. Sex is what life is.
I don’t agree with any of the assumptions you’re making about humans being an outlier. We’re not even particularly remarkable, sexually. If aliens reproduce sexually, why wouldn’t they be sexually driven? That’s literally the main thing evolution optimizes for. Everything else is just secondary, and only is prioritized if it increases the likelihood of surviving to reproduce.

I think any assumption of Aliens would be a mistake.
falseWhite@lemmy.world 11 hours ago
You made an assumption and so did I. I just based my assumption on what we know about life on earth.

If we compare humanity to other species on earth, the year-round horniness without any specific mating seasons is fairly uncommon. There’s not really a good reason to assume that a sentient alien species works the same way.

Maybe my aspirational alient sex party is an unintentional horror show where they want to have sex with us via cellular absorption and DNA fusion followed by a binary fision phase resulting in hybridization of both partners then cloning of the hybrids into an unknown number of offspring.
New kink unlocked. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Oh, read some Octavia Butler then! Brilliant and, well, kinda what you just said. The Xenogenesis series.
Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 11 hours ago
True. There is amazing diversity with and amongst species.

Yes, I am definitely in that group. I watch porn. I just had this realisation of how much porn there is to choose from vs how much choice there on Netflix. And all that porn is basically free.
its_prolly_fine@sh.itjust.works 7 hours ago
Comparing free porn to Netflix is the problem. Pornhub vs. YouTube is more comparable.
