Idk about other people, but the recent op/ed on women ruining the workplace (they had to change the title 3 times) just being allowed in print by them certainly lessens my opinion of their institution.
Or whatever that actually means that the ISPs in power have the freedom to maintain control without competition and ensures Americans have no choice in internet provider
E.g. it’s literally the opposite of what it says on the tin
JFC, what is happening to this country? I expect far better from the NY Times.
Another one is National Geographic. It was literally the finest publication for decades, over a century, then they were sold to Fox, who turned it into a religious rag, with every other month featuring a cover story about the Bible and its characters.
Now they are buying up all the broadcast and news channels. Pretty soon the Conservative Propaganda Machine will just be called “The Media.”
I was late to the party, but it turns out that the NYT has always been an agent of manufacturing consent for the US govt dating back at least as far as the vietnam war but almost assuredly since the beginning of the Cold War.
The overton window is constructed by our media and it was built in such a way that anyone to the left of the democrats was definitionally too radical while anyone to the right of the GOP was just misunderstood and needed to be accommodated.
They never saw a war that they wouldn’t help lie the country into. I just call them “Judith Miller’s NY Times” now. Also sitting on stories to help fascist politicians get elected.
