    I clicked show anyways, and was met with someone denying abusive behavior and trying to use their personal history of suffering from abuse to trivialize the actions of brigading, abusive tankies. I’ve received fucking death threats from Marxists, buddy. Don’t tell me I haven’t been mistreated.

      I can’t “brigade” a post thats literally on my front page and which the admin explicitly invited us to participate in.

      Conflict isn’t and will remain not abuse. And looking at your post history, you’ve said plenty of mean things to people on hexbear in their own goddamn instance so don’t try to take the moral highground there buddy.

  Your dismissal and slandering of one of the single biggest LGBTQ+ communities online as lying about who they are as some sort of elaborate ploy by right wing trolls is really, really fucking disgusting and we’d rightly ban you on Hexbear for it.

  Where were you for three years whilst those users and mods advocated, educated, and unfortunately suffered abuse in the process (from people we thankfully and rightly purged) of building one of the most LGBTQ+ places on the internet? Or the mutual aid our communities have done to help LGBTQ+ members overcome houseless, or not have to skip meals, or when those users have helped trans comrades find get access to healthcare and the medicine they need while living in hostile places?

  I don’t doubt and I hope we continue to improve even further, and I don’t claim these achievements as my own, but your assumption is gross and shouldn’t be accepted - never mind left uncorrected.

  It derails any attempt by anyone else at joining in and is on the list of reasons I’m probably defederation in this case. Sure, I can block the entire instance if I’m on Connect but then they dominate so there’s nothing left that isn’t hexbear.

  I agree. I have to find some way to block that instance from all the lemmy apps and the browser version. I didnt even realize they are supposed to be a leftist instance with how much anti liberal posts and pro fascism posts and comments I see from there.

    We criticize liberalism from the left though. I understand that you’re not used to that but liberalism is not actually the leftmost part of the political spectrum. Its also worth noting that when we say “liberalism” we include both what you understand to be “liberals” and “conservatives” because thats what the word originally meant. It just meant “supporter of capitalism”. We have significant issues with the Democratic Party (and the equivalent parties in other first world nations) though and don’t pretend otherwise, but all those criticisms are coming from Marxist perspectives.

    I’m not even going to get into it with the “pro fascism” part because I know this is almost certainly based on a misunderstanding of what fascism. Hexbear is explicitly anti-fascist, as are all communists except those weirdo MAGA communists of which there are like 10.

      Hexbear user claiming to be anti fascist in favor of Marxist authoritarianism. To be followed by anger at me calling them out for being an authoritarian or denying that communism is inherently authoritarian. Later, the conversation will devolve into denial that the USSR was authoritarian, that it occupied and oppressed the countries of Eastern Europe and those constituent republics of the Soviet Empire which didn’t authentically want to be there (like Ukraine and the Baltic states) and whataboutism about American cold war actions.

      Yes, we have all seen this conversation before, and all your rationalizations. You want to criticize the Democrats? Sure, fine, whatever, they aren’t perfect. But generally, a conversation with a tankie or chapo devolves into acrimony unless you favor dismantling capitalism in favor of their preferred brand of authoritarianism and support their historical revisionism.

      The guy is probably confusing authoritarian for facism - the few posts I’ve seen from hexbear members (that stand out anyway) were genocide denial (china/uyghur) or were downplaying the atrocities committed by the USSR because "they weren’t as bad as insert whataboutism here’.

      Communists and fascists are two sides of the same coin. The only difference is the flavor of the government that the secret police will work for and run the concentration camps for, which people they will suppress and kill, and whose property they will confiscate for the benefit of the Party.
