Disney already wrote off 90% of what was canon at the time and turned it into "legends" when they bought rights. They can do it again.

Not if done by anti-west authoritarian dictatorships. Russia isn't communist.
- Comment on Is lemmy.ml turn into authoritarian? 1 year ago:
Uh, lemmygrad.com isn't the URL for lemmygrad. It's lemmygrad.ml.
But you already knew that and are being intentionally disingenuous. You should stop lying.

They are literally run by the same people and everyone can look and see they are not defederated. Why are you blatantly lying about something that is easily verifiable?

Mass deportation of children is literally (one of) the dictionary definitions of genocide.

Now its different, there are good mod tools
This part is a lie. There are no good mod tools, only buggy non-functional mod tools.
- Comment on Is lemmy.ml turn into authoritarian? 1 year ago:
Hint: the moderation tools they are choosing to develop are none.
They are intentionally refusing to develop any moderation tools despite current moderation tools not working and it being the biggest issue instance admins are facing.

Join an instance that's defederated is your only real option. Even if you could block the instance you can't block all the users, which is why most of the replies to your post are from hexbear users trolling.
Not sure why your admin decided to not defed despite the toxicity and hate they showed to him.

Change mail (private) to moderated public notice board (not private). The owner of the public notice board should probably be sued for allowing the content to stay up.

- Comment on Is it just me or is Starfield kinda meh? 1 year ago:
BGS game is a genre unto itself really. With a few exceptions like Fallout NV made by another developer there really aren't any other games that play or work the same. That said the most recent game in the genre I can think of would be Fallout 4 and the gunplay is definitely better.
- Comment on Is it just me or is Starfield kinda meh? 1 year ago:
I think part of this is what it's being compared to. The combat is significantly better in starfield than past Bethesda (BGS) games. People who are saying it's great are generally comparing it to their past games.
I don't have experience with Cyberpunks combat yet (waiting for the update to finally play it) but I wouldn't be surprised if it's better.
- Comment on Windows 11 and local accounts 1 year ago:
Sure, but that shouldn't be surprising. Gentoo isn't trying to intentionally make the process harder. I haven't installed it for years but even then it was fairly streamlined and easy for what you're doing.
- Comment on Microsoft to stop forcing Windows 11 users into Edge in EU countries 1 year ago:
Sadly, they didn't lose. They almost lost, appealed and ended up with a settlement which didn't require removing IE from Windows or prevent tying other software to windows.
On November 2, 2001, the DOJ reached an agreement with Microsoft to settle the case. The proposed settlement required Microsoft to share its application programming interfaces with third-party companies and appoint a panel of three people who would have full access to Microsoft's systems, records, and source code for five years in order to ensure compliance.[29] However, the DOJ did not require Microsoft to change any of its code nor did it prevent Microsoft from tying other software with Windows in the future.

Even consoles should have FOV settings. Not every sits the same distance from the same sized screen.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
The game engine supports an arbitrary FOV. You can set it to whatever you want with an ini file. The problem is it's not exposed in the settings menu.
This has nothing to do with the engine. It's a UI problem that Bethesda has never cared about unfortunately.

If you like the sci-fi setting and don't mind some flying around space (it does have it, just not seamless travel) you'll probably like it.
- Comment on [MEGATHREAD] Starfield - Your experiences! 1 year ago:
They're completely different games. If you like other BGS games (Elder Scrolls, Fallout 3/4) you'll probably like this. If you didn't, you absolutely won't like this.
- Comment on [MEGATHREAD] Starfield - Your experiences! 1 year ago:
You do the same thing in any number of space themed games. That doesn't make any of them similar. This is nothing like NMS. They are completely different types of games.
I can see why you would not like it if you were expecting NMS but it was never intended to be that. It claimed to be a BGS game in space, and so far they seem to have delivered on that.
- Comment on [MEGATHREAD] Starfield - Your experiences! 1 year ago:
Yes, it's much more like Andromeda than NMS. You can also land at other points on planets and get a procedurally generated area instead of just the pre-made ones like in andromeda though.

I've only played a couple hours so far but I don't understand the comparisons to no mans sky beyond the setting. It's not a similar game at all.
