USA is Easy mode. It’s just that Europe, Australia, and Canada are Very Easy mode.
- Comment on How the House revived the TikTok ban bill before most of us noticed 3 months ago:
Adults are literally allowed to use 3/4 of those in the United States and most of the rest of the world.
- Comment on Apple won’t be forced to open up iMessage by EU 4 months ago:
RCS has with all the major reasons that iMessage became preferred, and Apple is adding RCS support to iOS. It’ll take some time, but I do think there’ll be a cultural shift.
- Comment on France uncovers a vast Russian disinformation campaign in Europe 4 months ago:
Look up Foundations of Geopolitics. It’s just one man’s book, but an astounding amount of what the Kremlin does now is in line with it.
I probably should’ve mentioned USA with those two, but technically the US is one of Russia’s neighbors, and at least one Kremlin official has state they do think they have the right to Alaska. Right now it’d be idiotic to try and enforce that, but if Russia gets too powerful I do think they’d go for it.
I don’t think it’d be great to be an EU resident in a Russia led world either, but Russia wants to lead with the EU in it’s sphere of influence; the express goal is to tank USA, Canada, and UK. That was the point of promoting Brexit and Trump (I don’t think they’ve dealt a huge blow to Canadian society like that yet.)
- Comment on Apple won’t be forced to open up iMessage by EU 4 months ago:
I get not defending the use of DVD over Blu-Ray at this point, but the downsides of streaming and digital “ownership” have been a sizeable portion of tech news for a while.
And honestly? US/Canada using the standardized protocol and Europe using the walled garden developed by an eviler-than-normal corporation sounds kinda backwards from the cultural differences between US and Europe we usually hear.
- Comment on France uncovers a vast Russian disinformation campaign in Europe 4 months ago:
If you’re in a country that shares a border with Russia, or are Canadian or British and understand politics at all, you’ve been sick of it for a while.
- Comment on Queer.af mastodon instance has been shut down by the Taliban 4 months ago:
US states don’t have registers and .us is pretty much only used to spell words vs. a lot of TLDs that are actually used to identify country (which I’ve seen a few people criticize Americans over, but while I don’t think it had anything to do with privacy as much as Americans just getting used to everything being .com, I think that’s ultimately a good thing.)
- Comment on TikTok sounds go silent as songs disappear from app 4 months ago:
TikTok basically controls the Billboard Hot 100 right now. Some say that’s why 2023 was, according to pop music critics, such a bad year.
But honestly, TikTok losing control over Billboard or less UMG artists on the charts are both positives to me.
- Comment on It’s Surprisingly Easy to Live Without an Amazon Prime Subscription 4 months ago:
I could kinda understand this if you live in a rural area and have had it for years…but still, first world problems, my god.
- Comment on America Is Missing Out on the Best Electric Cars: Whatever kind of EV you might want, chances are China has it. 4 months ago:
This just isn’t a CCP shill post. Western and Korean companies simply refuse to sell an EV that isn’t a luxury car, and Japanese companies seem to be trying to get out of making EVs period. The only one I could name, Chevy Bolt, got the axe last year.

How the fuck are Norwegians affording that
- Comment on Why a kilobyte is 1000 and not 1024 bytes 5 months ago:
I’ve honestly just come to the conclusion that being an asshole about the fact that other countries exist is just the continental past time of Europe.
Like, Americans get the most of it but they’re like this toward people from other European countries too.
- Comment on Threads is blocking servers on the Fediverse. Here's how we unblocked ourselves. | Soapbox 5 months ago:
I would love to have them, but Meta being the largest fediverse instance by far means it’d give them too much power over the fediverse.

Papa John’s is the least bad chain pizza IMO. I find myself getting them for sheer topping selection.
Pizza Hut is the real worst. Well, without factoring in cost, Little Caesar’s is the worst, but LC is some of the cheapest preheated food at least in the US so they get a pass that Pizza Hut doesn’t.

- Comment on The Cybertruck Is a Disappointment Even to Cybertruck Superfans / Looking at the specs alone, the car is delivering 30 percent less range than expected for 30 percent more money 6 months ago:
But no one’s making retro N64 era transitional 3d graphics is what I meant
Super Kiwi 64, the Toree series, Dusk, Anodyne 2, a billion indie horror games, Frogun, Signalis, A Short Hike (those last two are more DS than N64 or PS1…but that’s basically just PS1 graphics on a handheld)
- Comment on EU stops advertising on X over hate speech. Fines could follow next year 7 months ago:
Please. Given that investors expect infinite growth and that EU is not an ignorable market for most businesses, it would destroy the company.

- Comment on Tesla will sue you for $50,000 if you try to resell your Cybertruck in the first year 7 months ago:
This sounds like the kind of thing Ferrari does, that people accept because if you own a Ferrari you’re kinda part of an exclusive club of rich assholes. Teslas are expensive but they’re not “exclusive club” expensive, they’re more like BMWs.

- Comment on Pressure grows on Apple to open up iMessage 8 months ago:
But most iPhone sales are in a region where WhatsApp is irrelevant.
- Comment on Pressure grows on Apple to open up iMessage 8 months ago:
But still, if you have an Android and someone you want to text has an iPhone, you’re using SMS, not RCS.
I do believe RCS-compatibility for iMessage would make take a chunk out of iPhone sales honestly.
- Comment on Pressure grows on Apple to open up iMessage 8 months ago:
I agree that all the stuff iMessage has that RCS doesn’t is gimmicky, I’m, an Android user myself…but if you have an Android and someone you want to talk to has an iPhone, we’re both using SMS.
- Comment on Pressure grows on Apple to open up iMessage 8 months ago:
Encryption, photos are higher quality through it (this is where “Android cameras are bad” came from,) typing indicators, sending messages over Wi-Fi, iMessage games, and message effects.
- Comment on Europe gives Elon Musk 24 hours to respond about Israel-Hamas war misinformation and violence on X 8 months ago:
I agree, but the problem when it’s from government is that government can define “atrocities we’re doing” as “misinformation.”
EU residents along with Canadians are the LAST people who should count on government continuing to be reasonable.
- Comment on Utah sues TikTok, alleging it lures children into addictive and destructive social media habits 8 months ago:
I wouldn’t take issue with this if X and Google (for YouTube Shorts) were getting sued as well. But I don’t think TikTok should be singled out.
