- Comment on 4ish years ago when I bought a house I was convinced not to get a house inspection, would it be crazy to get one now just to make sure it's all good? 5 months ago:
our inspection saved us money. they found a crack in the outdoor tiling sealant that was retaining water. we spent $200 on their services, but their report helped us regotiate $5000 off our initial offer, which we had repaired for ~$500. for anybody tossing it up, it's a no-brainer.

No need to assume, you can see this on all of their comment history. They are claiming ownership of their words, or in the context, ownership of how they’ve arranged others words
- Comment on FOSS scanner app surpasses Microsoft for usability 7 months ago:
I’ll go out on a limb here and suggest that most of the FOSS alternatives I’ve discovered in the last 12-18 months have been just as good if not better than paid alternatives. The issue they face mostly is lack of visibility. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I discovered Beat for screenplay writing for the first time.

I’ve also had a Samsung fridge for 6 years and haven’t had a problem with it. But again, this is anecdotal.
- Comment on Samsung purposely knives customer's TV to weasel out of repair 9 months ago:
I bought a Samsung washing machine in 2016 and it died in 2020. They sent someone to repair it within a week at no charge. It’s still going now, so I think it worked? Anyways YMMV

in my country a PT is a personal trainer, so I understand where you’re coming from if that’s what you mean. But I think in this instance PT means physiotherapist

- Comment on Police should not be involved in mental health incidents, Australian report says 11 months ago:
After police failed to talk him out of the booth, they set police dogs on him and swung batons at him from either side of the booth, leaving him with lacerations on his forehead and hand, as well as dog bites on his leg.
How can you call that the "role of protector"? Who was being protected? I'll concede that i'm sure it's difficult to identify people who are having mental health episodes and those who deserve to be attacked by dogs—hang on, nobody deserves that. I'd imagine it's much easier for a trained mental health professional to identify a situation that needs intervention, instead of people whose first instinct is to bludgeon. Imagine feeling scared and isolated, and the first responders response is to beat you. I'm sorry, I feel like I'm unfairly lashing out at you, but I'm struggling to grapple with the fact that you can read that article and go "I hope sufferers can understand that".
- Comment on Is the government really trying to control your TV? Here's what its proposal on streaming apps means for you 11 months ago:
idk this doesn't feel like a bad thing to me, all things considered. most tvs have shortcut buttons to netflix (or other) and those buttons lose their usefulness if you're not subscribed. I would never press a channel 7/9/10 button, but i don't press the netflix one either.

- Comment on Wish | Official Trailer 1 year ago:
I enjoyed elemental as a piece about first generation immigrants. Also found it refreshing that Disney allowed it to be a love story, and that drove the plot. But yes, the scene where they all get to element city or whatever was a total retread of zootopia
- Comment on Spyware can infect your phone or computer via the ads you see online – report 1 year ago:
the price tag $6m+ price tag to infect one device on this product alone means it’s only likely to be used in extreme circumstances. But if you’re a public figure, or have some form of notoriety, then It’s always a good practice to block any connections you didn’t personally open.
- Comment on 'Mindhunter' Is Dead — So Stop Asking David Fincher About It! 1 year ago:
I also find it difficult to believe it’s more expensive than the average TV drama, considering Fincher already has a development deal with the network.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but Fincher is very particular about his shots, and as such there is a metric shit-tonne of CGI in both seasons of mindhunter. There's a few videos on youtube that demonstrate it. Again, I don't think that would inherently make it way more expensive than the typical, but his vision comes with a price tag.

Apparently their execs saw promising demos, they believe the engineers will have the whole problem solved in 3 years, the engineers know they’re smoking crack.
reminds me of uber, who were likely sold the dream of a fleet of fully self driving cars within a few years, so they only had to deal with pesky "employees" for that long.
