Save the spoon for your significant other.
- Comment on Tennessee grandmother wrongly jailed for six months, latest victim of AI-driven misidentification — facial recognition is jailing the wrong people, but police keep using it anyway. 4 days ago:
There is a woman in this story that lost a lot, due to an untrustworthy and invasive technology. What the hell are you talking about?

I think it’s the other way around. Everyone is “safe” from those on Lemmy because what’s our reach?
- Comment on Now why does the Tomodachi store staff got their heads like... this? 4 weeks ago:
A bunch of older cop shows also used to same something to the effect. The names in this story have been changed to protect the innocent. Something like that.
- Comment on Now why does the Tomodachi store staff got their heads like... this? 4 weeks ago:
To protect the innocent? Idk lol

Hey that’s a win!
- Comment on Why is GOG not as succesful as a Gaming Alternative? 5 weeks ago:
GOG also has a partnership with Amazon Luna. You can play some games you own on their service (like through a fire tv stick). It’s a smaller library than what all is available on GOG. And it requires an Amazon Prime subscription. (I know some people don’t like Amazon, and for good reasons. Still thought I’d mention.)

It’s not for them, it’s for you and I to make better decisions. Seems there are more dum dums though.

Same for those referring to the Kennedy Center using Trump’s illegal name change as well. USA Today is doing that.

The New Tetris (N64). For the 4x4 block making, and the awesome drum & bass soundtrack!
- Comment on Baldur's Gate 3 director agrees with No Rest for the Wicked lead that Early Access is "a positive thing" for games like their two RPGs – when it works 1 month ago:
It would be nice if players caught on and ditched every avenue of playing unfinished games. Redemption arcs are pathetic. Again players let these companies off the hook.

- Comment on ICE Wants to Go After Dissenters as well as Immigrants 2 months ago:
What’s new is that the federal government now openly says it will use its supercharged spy capabilities to target people who oppose ICE’s actions. Labeled as “domestic terrorists” by the administration, these targets include anti-ICE protesters and anyone who allegedly funds them — all of them part of a supposed left-wing conspiracy to violently oppose the president’s agenda.
- Comment on Microsoft May Have Created the Slowest Windows in 25 Years with Windows 11 2 months ago:
I just created a Restart Explorer shortcut and placed it on my desktop, that opens and closes a cmd window in the process, for these very purposes! I was proud to be able to create that shortcut but that’s about it. I’m not very technologically inclined either. Just somewhat.
- Comment on Copilot could soon live inside Windows 11's File Explorer, as Microsoft tests Chat with Copilot in Explorer, not just in a separate app 2 months ago:
It may not be helpful enough and getting on in age (maybe others know of something similar), but there is a mod called OldNewExplorer that you can run and choose to modify a few elements of Explorer. I’ve used it to change the details pane from the side back to the bottom of the window.
- Comment on YSK: Albert Einstein wrote about Socialism, and specifically calls out issues with the version proposed by technocrats. 2 months ago:
Stood out to me for that reason, as well. Several other passages in there are like that, too, but that would have been too much to share. However, I did not read in its entirety. Sad that we cannot break out of our limitations, from what little I understand.
- Comment on YSK: Albert Einstein wrote about Socialism, and specifically calls out issues with the version proposed by technocrats. 2 months ago:
Private capital tends to become concentrated in few hands, partly because of competition among the capitalists, and partly because technological development and the increasing division of labor encourage the formation of larger units of production at the expense of smaller ones. The result of these developments is an oligarchy of private capital the enormous power of which cannot be effectively checked even by a democratically organized political society. This is true since the members of legislative bodies are selected by political parties, largely financed or otherwise influenced by private capitalists who, for all practical purposes, separate the electorate from the legislature. The consequence is that the representatives of the people do not in fact sufficiently protect the interests of the underprivileged sections of the population. Moreover, under existing conditions, private capitalists inevitably control, directly or indirectly, the main sources of information (press, radio, education). It is thus extremely difficult, and indeed in most cases quite impossible, for the individual citizen to come to objective conclusions and to make intelligent use of his political rights.
