- Comment on Epic Games needs Fortnite players to "help pay the bills" as the multi-billion-dollar company raises V-Bucks prices while making Battle Passes and Crew way worse in value 1 week ago:
I hate epic, and I think you’re correct. The only part I like is that they keep giving me free games just for existing.
I love steam, and competition is what will help them make choices that will keep me happy with steam.
Epic is such a poor comparison to steam right now it’s not even funny.

I love lemmy. On the other site, you’d have 100 snarky and/or insulting replies. Here, there’s a single reply that is straightforward and helpful.
I dunno, thanks for being a bright spot in otherwise somewhat bleak world.

- Comment on Discord roll out global age verification system, including an "age inference" model that runs in the background 5 weeks ago:
My group mostly only uses discord for video chat during D&D. Is there a recommended alternative? We don’t use ANY of the other features. I’m looking into jitsi now.

They can pry my hardware from my cold, dead hands.
Also my car with knobs. I will continue to maintain that car for as long as possible.

Interesting, it may be more than simply turning off bobbing then. I wish you luck!
Also, @ameancow has some great suggestions as well.
- Comment on Games you really want to play, but can't or won't? 1 month ago:
I couldn’t find conclusive information for Wolfenstein 3D or Doom, but it seems to point toward bobbing being present for those as well.
If it really seems like a game that might be otherwise fun, I’d recommend giving it a shot with bobbing/sway (however it is called) turned of.
This also affects my wife, she has to have it off in order to enjoy any 3d, first person game.

Have you messed with the settings? Turning off view bobbing might be the trick!

I would love to, but unfortunately our work requires windows due to the software packages we use. And no, I really don’t want to run a virtual machine for CAD.

I deal with this at work. Two engineers love AI, myself and the other engineer hate it. We’re mechanical. It’s funny when a material standard doesn’t exist…
