- Comment on How does patientgamers feel about free games on Epic? 3 weeks ago:
Free is free. If they’re making a bunch of money off ten year-olds and their moms, I’ll take their giveaways. If I get something free from Epic and I really like it, I’ll buy it on gog too.

Yeah because the ruling class only feels terrorized by one of them.
- Comment on Tawny Newsome Says Live Action Star Trek Workplace Comedy Will Explore Life Outside The Federation 5 weeks ago:
Star Trek always had some levity. And all the other new Trek has always felt too serious - they’ve been constantly saving the Federation/humanity/Galaxy/universe. If they need to make a funny show on order to tell a funny story, then give. Go for it.

You might like The Orville, too.

I loved Lower Decks, and I hope somehow those stories continue. Did people who are new to Star Trek enjoy it, too?
As an aside, I think that was something that made Prodigy fantastic: it was a serialized program with episodic stories that didn’t require any understanding of Star Trek beforehand. The main characters weren’t part of the Federation, so the audience got to learn alongside them.

Chicken thoughts is a great webcomic. I don’t own a bird and thanks to chicken thoughts I never will.

I feel you. I have a Gmail address for account logins, shopping, social media (Lemmy, Mastodon, LinkedIn). I have my own email domain and server for people I actually want to communicate with. Ever since I set it up a few months ago I’ve been enjoying email so much more again.

From what I saw, they usually end up backing off and looking for aphids that were less defended.

I’ve seen some epic battles in my vegetable garden between ladybugs going after the aphids and the ants defending them.

I really enjoy Caves of Qud. But it’s not retro in any sense. I’d argue it doesn’t even feel retro.

TAS can be considered its own competitive speedrun genre, with its own players trying to optimize and reduce times further and further. As far as I know, very few games have reached a point of being definitively 100% TAS optimized.
Additionally, TAS often is the incubator for ideas and tech that human speedrunners can adapt for their own use, too.

Sometimes more than one.
- Comment on Monthly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing? 3 months ago:
The Spirit and The Mouse is free on Epic Games right now. I’ve been enjoying it - gentle, cute game where you play as a little electric mouse in a french village trying to help it’s citizens. Rough around the edges with a lot of heart.
- Comment on Final Fantasy 9 Remake May Not Happen as a Single Title 3 months ago:
Mist Continent to Outer Continent for part one. They’ll beef up the escape sequence in Fossil Roo as the end of the first game.
They’ll add a bunch of filler and make Terra its own game.
Part three will be the endgame + the optional open world stuff before the endgame.
They’ll fit a part for by carving something else up too.
It’ll be a shame, too, since FF9 has a fun story and characters.

- Comment on Every phone call you make with just the mic near your mouth and the speaker near your ear, you are having a conversational 69 where both of you are placing your mouths next to each other's ears. 3 months ago:
I think they see it on tv shows or social media influencers, where it allows both sides of a conversation to be heard by the audience. And if TV or Kim Kardashian does it, it must be cool, right?

Thanks for the review. I wonder how I missed this when it first came out. It’s still kind of pricey on GOG, so I guess I’ll wait for a sale.
