Not all of their headphones though, right? I’ve checked the settings for my Elite 85t (?) and while there were options for adjusting the notification one way or another, I couldn’t outright mute or remove it

- Comment on Shit's getting real 1 week ago:
No, it was not meant as a moral argument but the ecological impact of eating honey and supporting honey farming and beekeeping, as stated in my comment. The ethical argument is the same with any other animal that could be, but shouldn’t be from my point of view, exploited for our gain.
Plus there’s a difference between harvesting the literal nourishment of a species that requires it for their own suatainment and using them for crops and their pollination: one of them is easily avoidable and unnecessary, the other is a necessary evil but ultimately still required if I want to keep on living.
The most ecological and ethically sound conclusion then would be to just stop existing, but I don’t have a deathwish, so that’s the least harmful option out of the ones I have.
Capitalism is founded on exploitation of other people, our environment, animals, whatnot, so I don’t have any other option until capitalism is overturned and another form of governing rule is established, desirable but currently not possible, so all I can do is minimise the impact I have on the environment, on animals, on other people as much as possible.

I’m not an expert on artificial sweeteners, but as far as I know, they’re to be consumed in moderate amounts just like sugars are. And from what I’ve heard, stevia is among the better sweeteners compared to something like aspartame or maybe even sucralose. The mixing of sugar and a sweetener is not ideal, I think that’s true.
I’ll gladly be proven otherwise - don’t know enough about them tbh
- Comment on Shit's getting real 2 weeks ago:
Honeybees destroy ecosystems because they’re more efficient at pollination than wild bees are, so there’s an ecological nuance to abstaining from honey. Apart from that, there’s the ethical component of taking away food that the bees produce for themselves that’s not ours for the taking.

Used to hate Arizona quite a bit because it felt super bougie and expensive for what’s essentially just a regular ice tea. Developed a taste for it over the years and like it quite a bit nowadays because it’s partly sweetened with stevia which makes it taste very pleasantly. Quite unfortunate that most of the flavours sold here aren’t vegan because they insist on 0,1% of honey in the ingredients
- Comment on What game sequel ruined a beloved franchise or character for you? 3 weeks ago:
Gonna be controversial but Monster Hunter World for me. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the game a lot at first and put 100+ hours into it. But it marked the departure from the silly, cozy, slightly under-the-radar franchise to something that’s just too big for my tastes. I feel like each entry is trying to top its predecessor in new mechanics, bigger maps and stuff and end up getting lost in the sauce.
I started playing on PSP with Freedom 2 and Freedom Unite and moved over to 3DS when the games came out for that. The games were never unpopular per se, especially in Japan where they’ve been a staple since the PSP days, but they always felt a little more niche and unknown. They felt more focused, more streamlined, tighter. All the new combat mechanics added in newer installments definitely help the fluidity of the gameplay and add a lot of fun and variety. But that’s it for new additions that I’d miss when going back to older titles. These huge open-world-esque maps just don’t cut it for me.
Rise would likely have been last MH that I could enjoy since it’s a good mix of classic MH with good QoL features added in to make the game more modern, but even that one didn’t quite catch my attention for too long.
I don’t know, I feel like Monster Hunter kinda lots its charme in chasing industry trends of open world games and more realistic graphics and physics in favour of character, silliness, and focus.

Oh gee, I couldn’t think of something to put there. But Fable 3 was definitely a flop
- Comment on What are some games with absolutely fantastic soundtracks? 3 weeks ago:
For entire OSTs: any of the FromSoft soulslikes, Lies of P, Diablo 2 + Lord of Destruction, any Monster Hunter game really (especially the ones in Pokke village, so Freedom 2 and Freedom Unite/Portable 2nd G), Hollow Knight, currently enjoying Ridge Racer’s (PSP) soundtrack for working out, Deltarune and Undertale, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and Bboy the Game for some perfect-vibe licensed music…
Disco Elysium’s is my current favourite OST, but the game itself might also just be current favourite game.
As for individual tracks, I like the Spanish guitar portion of “The Drive/First Contact” off the RE4 soundtrack. Back when I started out with breaking (“breakdance”), think 2008/9ish, we had a remix of that specific part of the song that would play often - I’ve got very fond memories of that. The song itself, its remixes and the remake versions actually are some of my favourite running music for the gym.
Here’s the remix in question if anyone’s interested: youtu.be/SMWV-3pbcLE
As for one favourite individual song from each of the aforementioned OSTs:
- Hunter’s Dream (Bloodborne)
- Shadow Flower (Lies of P)
- Rogue (Diablo 2) + Lord of Destruction intro
- Pokke Village theme (MH Freedom 2/Unite/Generations (Ultimate)) and Mizutsune theme (first fought in Generations)
- Mantis Lords (Hollow Knight)
- Rotterdam Nation - Remix (Ridge Racer)
- Ruins (Undertale) and My Castle Town (Deltarune)
- I’m a Swing It by House of Pain or Ace of Spades by Motörhead (THPS3)
- Don’t Sweat the Technique by Rakim or Apache by Incredible Bongo Band (Bboy the Game)
This was lots of fun to think about. I hope anyone reading can find something of value here. :)

I get all of your points and agree with most. However, your experience is entirely unchanged if people who want to have difficulty settings play with them and you don’t. It’s a single-player game - their decisions to do not affect you in the slightest.
Imagine if DS3 was the exact same game it is right now, but you have the option of choosing a difficulty options that reduces the damage you take and increases the damage you deal, for people who want that kind of experience. Would that change anything about the experience you had with the game?
At the of the day, as long developers have the freedom to do as they please and communicate what they feel like is the “preferred” experience, there is no harm in catering to more people outside the inner circle of most dedicated players who have the luxury of putting as much time into the game as they are able to. Like, why would that bother you?
The more people get to experience the game, the better in my opinion. I don’t gain anything from gating people from playing the game other than an already negative rap the genre and its player base gets from elitist opinions on their game. Not saying you’re an elitist for having the opinions you outlined - it’s just something to consider.
And yea, I firmly believe that the entire genre - including FS games - would profit from that.

Why though? You do end up not playing the game at all if you’re barred from it because of imposed arbitrary difficulty settings

Nothing wrong with adding difficulty options to a genre that’s been notoriously inaccessible to wide swathe of players. It doesn’t take anything away from the accomplishments of players who want to play on higher difficulties and only gives options to those who need or want to have difficulty options.
I’m hugely in favour of new soulslikes adding difficulty options and welcome them with open arms. Having options is always good. :)

- Comment on “Donated” plasma today 1 month ago:
Sadly, I used to not have the luxury of donating plasma for the sake of it but at times required it to pay for bills and groceries. It’s a little better right now, but it’s still not ideal.
I’m sure there are others like me who can definitely use the money. It’s a noble idea that people would donate for the sake of it, but it’s unlikely and plain unrealistic that people are altruistic enough to do so. It’s fine to incentivise them for it in my books.
The company behind the facility uses the plasma to produce drugs and probably gain way more from the single donation than the donor does in terms of money. The least they can do is pay people for their donations. I’ve had a pretty big discussion on this topic around a year ago or so where people from the US, for example, chimed in and said that they’d get more than 100$ per donation. Insane compared to the 25€ we get here. So even these 25€ that are frowned on by some are nothing for how much blood plasma is actually worth.
It’s awesome that you’re in a position where you’re not “forced” to donate anything for money, but the reality is that there are loads of people who rely on that additional income and use the opportunity where possible.
- Comment on “Donated” plasma today 1 month ago:
Here in Germany at the facility I donate at, you need to wait two full days before you can donate again because your body needs the time to regenerate. While the toll on your body is smaller compared to a blood donation, your body still is at work to regenerate what’s missing now. It’s not a precaution that’s put there willy nilly
