That was a big reason for me leaving my old job.
- Comment on Is Mario Kart Double Dash the best one? 4 weeks ago:
I just love the feeling of zipping around with the Mach Bike. In MK8, they’re not quite as responsive and don’t feel as good as the karts do, so it’s almost the opposite problem

I personally lean towards Wii. The feel of the inline bikes just hasn’t been matched. Super Circuit a close second for nostalgia reasons.
- Comment on BattleTanx series rereleasing on N64 | Retro Gaming News 24/7 2 months ago:
BattleTanx is extremely naff, but I always have a good time with it. I grew up with the PlayStation version, which runs ridiculously slowly; N64, on the other hand, feels a bit too fast!

They used to! I actually got the 1TB plan the same year they phased it out. Good timing on my part there. Waste of £70 or whatever it was.

- Comment on Flipt: open-source, CloudNative feature flag solution 2 months ago:
Genuinely confused as to what the use case is for this. Do you put it in your own app / page? Is it for managing features across all your services? Is it just its own features??

If anyone wants a ‘quick’ solution, have a look at ClassicPress which was forked from WordPress a while ago.
NB: it does have a big friendly ‘migrate’ button which works pretty well (in the form of a WordPress plugin). However, expect some of your other plugins not to be compatible.

- Comment on how can i self host my music? 2 months ago:
I don’t have any links to hand, but look into Dynamic DNS. It’s basically a way for your device / router to talk to your domain registrar, and update their DNS records whenever your IP address changes.
Have a look at DuckDNS as a starting point.
- Comment on San Francisco to pay $212 million to end reliance on 5.25-inch floppy disks 3 months ago:
I’m not 100% sure off the top of my head, but the end result is that the drive is set to A: rather than B: in Windows. Something to do with the pins on the motherboard specifying the drive order.

- Comment on Microsoft has a big Windows 10 problem, and only one year to solve it 3 months ago:
Two options:
- Change the DNS and gateway so they’re pointing to 0.0.0.0
- Give the Windows install a static IP or lease, and block that IP on the router
- Comment on I rented many games solely based on their covers, only to be mildly disappointed when I got home. 3 months ago:
It wouldn’t really. Hand-drawn sprites are pretty standard even today - whether they’re hand-pixelled (Stardew Valley) or frame-by-frame animation (Spiritfarer).

- Comment on I rented many games solely based on their covers, only to be mildly disappointed when I got home. 3 months ago:
The characters and environments in Fallout and JA2 are basically still frames (sprites) of 3D models at specific angles. They were rendered once on a powerful development machine, and converted to sprites for our lowly Pentiums.

Lots of the best games were prerendered! Donkey Kong Country, Fallout, Jagged Alliance 2, Duke 3D, the Pro Pinball games, just to name a few.
I do have a soft spot for prerendered graphics.
