That website is great. Check the links at the bottom lmao. The author clearly has it out for someone.

Cable bundles like that are not flexible enough to move properly without straining the cables. You have to do concentric twists for that F1/Aerospace quality cable management.
- Comment on They recalled the radioactive shrimp again. Why? My research shows you can just cook off the radiation. 1 day ago:
We want domestic products in our shrimp, like dioxin or mercury.
- Comment on If you had to buy a new TV, what brand would you get? 1 week ago:
I bought a hisense tv last year, you can run advtv to cripple its ability to phone home and disable stuff, then install projectivy launcher to bypass all the other bullshit.
Sony also was an option for that.

Unrelated but did you know that Libraries oftentimes have cd’s, dvd’s, and even audiobooks available to borrow?
- Comment on [Eagle screech] 2 weeks ago:
How dare you insult the second gen ford lightning like that, it was a shitty truck that jad too much power and came with a fisher price quality interior but the yobbos have moved on from it now. It should be a mid 90s dodge ram diesel with extra wide wheels, low profile tires, and it’s tow mirrors out and a plume of diesel smoke billowing out of a poorly attached, trashcan sized, exhaust tip.
- Comment on YSK that if U.S. housing and U.S population projections hold, the Electoral College will shift further away from Democrats after the 2030 census. 4 weeks ago:
They are in for a shock if they come to Texas thinking is cheaper. The property taxes and insurance on houses is crazy here and can be counted on to increase at 10% per year. I went back and looked at my homeowners policy from 2016 vs 2025 and I started out paying $1600 per year and just paid $4800 for worse coverage this year. No claims or anything, I don’t live near the coast, not in a flood zone, not in a forest, no history of damaging hail, roof was replaced in 2016.
- Comment on What are the most useful things you've printed? 4 weeks ago:
I make one off fixtures to position parts for fiberglass layups or woodworking and its amazing to be able to get really precise fitups without needing a cnc machine or expensive metal for single use stuff.
- Comment on Dedicated music server or all-in-one media server? 5 weeks ago:
I am using syncthing to directionally sync my music from my server to my phone. I like having the local copy on both devices so O don’t worry about losing cell service/internet.

Once I got it up and running, it has been like you described, way better than windows.

No, the generic usb driver wouldn’t work for me. I only was able to get it to print a test page weirdly.

Brother. Weirdly, the scanner setup was completely painless and even easier than in wondows.
- Comment on LibreOffice is right about Microsoft, and it matters more than you think. 5 weeks ago:
As a recent linux convert I found printer drivers and setups to be a pain and getting java runtime working was a process but everything else was about a days worth and it just works. Hell, even hitting the windows key on the keyboard and typing the ms name for stuff pops up the relevant linux program. If you didn’t know you were looking at something different, it wouldn’t be obvious for the most part.

Who makes your tv?
You can do quite a bit of tweaks to mitigate the phone home stuff and ads with projectivy and ADB TV.

I just meant blending the last of one batch/bottle with the beginning of the next like in a decanter.

Critically, this does not work with iced coffee. It does work with whiskey though.

The education system as I lived through it in Texas was actively hostile to saying you didn’t know, it was treated as being worse than being wrong or guessing. You can tell by the results allllllll around us.
- Comment on Lemmy is a tech literate echo chamber 1 month ago:
I have worked with a few gen z interns/fresh grads, and some younger millennials (I am a 1990 kid) and its interesting… Some of them have been very successful at passing the tests but have no mechanical aptitude at all. Some have been technically literate on first glance, then proven to be just confidently incorrect. In general though, it seems they just didn’t grow up being interested in how things worked like I did. It could be isolated to my small sample size or it could be a general trend. They also don’t seem to make connections scross disciplines as easily either but again, that could just be a time in service thing at this point and not a generational trait.
I have not been super impressed with the new ones we get when we get them, some of them have been quick learners though and have impressed me with their adaptability. I am a huge proponent of proper mentorships or rotational programs and that is something that seems to get overlooked with younger grads in my experience.
One thing that really annoys me though, is that when prompted with something they don’t know, they will spit out some randome bullshit rather than say they don’t know. Saying I don’t know is a completly acceptable answer as long as it is followed up with “but I will find out” or “can you help/explain it”. Falling back to a first principle approach and talking through it is also valid but just making up some shit doesnt fly with me.
- Comment on What network hardware should I get for my homelab? 2 months ago:
Yeah the docs are not good, I have been lucky to have a friend with lots of experience in their ecosystem who has been schooling me up on it. Once I got the basic configuration setup its been fine.
I may regret saying that in a bit when I go to add my other components, like my adguard/pi-hole, vpns, ip cameras, and other networked devices but the basic test setup I have now seems to be stable enough to deploy.
I have not seen the connection loss issues but I will keep an eye out for it.

The op mentioned wanting open source. Just providing information and it got me curious.
- Comment on What network hardware should I get for my homelab? 2 months ago:
They are not open source but I just started dipping my toes into the Mikrotik ecosystem and the hardware has been pretty nice from what I have seen. I am not a network guy, just a homegamer coming from normal asus routers though. They have a couple of options for adding cell service via sim cards but I have not looked too far into it.
- Comment on New Xfinity router motion-detecting feature stokes privacy fears — feature powered by Wi-Fi signals 2 months ago:
With Att fiber, I had to use their gateway or not have internet. You can set it to passthrough mode but I didn’t really trust that even with my own router and their wifi disabled.
On Comcast/xfinity copper 2.5, I am 100% using my own modem and router. They kept pushing me to get a streaming box, thermostat, camera, whatever the fuck else and it took several steps to get just the basic service.
