He went to UVU one semester and then left and went to trade school as an electrical apprentice. I highly doubt he got radicalized at college in Utah. He was already radicalized by his parents and family in the MAGA / Mormon spheres. It takes longer than a semester to deconstruct cult level beliefs like that. There is very little to any evidence that his roommate is trans. It is all hearsay picked up from places like 4-chan then spread to right-wing rags then spread to right wing politicans. A big loooong game of telephone. It isn’t even clear he lived there at the time of the shooting. The Daily Mail said he lives with his family in a $600,000 six-bedroom home.
The reason the trans - fan fic is getting spread by right-wingers is that the federal authorities are using it to get jurisdiction from the state since that could make it classify as a hate crime. Even if the roommate is trans that doesn’t mean they aren’t a right-wing trans person. Trans people can have shitty views just like any other group of people.
It doesn’t help that the FBI and news outlets are releasing different info to different news audiences to muddy the waters. Just the meta-data of this being the 3rd trans related storyline being pushed does not inspire confidence in it’s veracity. The first TRN one was debunked and retracted, but then they claim the engravings point to trans- ideology when that isn’t really apparent. Then they come up with another one. Sorry, not buying right-wingers making shit up to blame it on trans people.

It also pollutes the mind of ignorant people with misinformation. Not that that is anything new. But I do think objective truth is very important in a democratic society. It reminds me of that video that used to go around that showed Sinclair Broadcasting in like 20 some different ‘local’ broadcast news all repeating the same words verbatim. It ended with ‘This is extremely dangerous to our democracy’. With AI being added to all the search engines, it is really easy to look something and unknowingly get bombarded with false info pulled out of the dregs of internet. 90% of people don’t verify the answer to see if it is based in reality.
- Comment on His message touched me. I feel no empathy 3 days ago:
In objective reality, if you treat people who profess to believe such things like that, they bitch and moan until they get their way. But if the roles are reversed, they really act like they don’t give a damn about you.
This is a case of rules are for you, but they don’t apply to me.
These type of people are just so annoying to be around to put it mildly.

There was 2 types of stories. First type was propaganda pushed by right wing outlets and influencers like Steven Crowder about manufacturer markings. Second type of story was released by federal agencies and is a little more trustworthy. First type of story was generally retracted. It’s a easy mistake to make when news moves so fast.

Yeah, your right that it technically isn’t an insult, Thanks for pointing that out. Even so for some reason I doubt you are intending it to be interpreted in a positive way. If you’d like to engage with the substance of what I said instead of only criticizing my delivery (which I admit may be non-optimal), I will still be open to that. Later
- Comment on 5 days ago:
I get that people only have a limited energy to engage with people they don’t know as our time is limited. Having said that I don’t believe I am wrong, since you’ve not even attempted to engage with what I said, and have instead chosen insults. If you do decide to care in the future, I would be open to conversing.
Edit Response: I don’t hate PBS and I don’t want to hurt your feelings or spread bad ideas. I simply have the media literacy to understand that PBS is politically biased towards a corporate US ideology that is not above spreading propaganda to mislead viewers. As I said before, I do think it is better run than most broadcast stations, but I am still critical of it’s choices, since it is bad practice to blindly trust even ‘good’ new sources without being aware of their bias.

If I’m wrong about something let me know instead of throwing out insults. No one knows everything.
- Comment on 6 days ago:
Sorry to break it to you, but PBS Newshour is not immune to corporate and political bias, just because it is(was? Idk honestly) partially publicly funded. They have sponsors to please and viewers to pander to just like other stations. I do generally think they are better than most broadcast news but they are still biased towards a general pro-corporate sanitized viewpoint. If a CEO (or any important western figurehead) dies they aren’t going to focus on harms they did, they will focus on telling how they were such a great loving family man regardless of if it is true.
- Comment on 1 week ago:
Why do you disbelieve me? Do you think that PBS news wouldn’t focus on the political beliefs of a political activist without actually mentioning what those beliefs are when eulogizing him? They talked about how he was big in the Maga movement and how he was close to trump, but they didn’t mention any of his horrible views that he got flack for. When you don’t mention what his actual horrible views were and instead focus on a bunch of politicians’ generic condemnation of political violence, It’s not exactly a stretch to think that a viewer could think he was killed for his opinions or his political stance. PBS didn’t say that directly, but they don’t have to for people to take that message away.
- Comment on 1 week ago:
I heard something like that from 2 different ‘news’ sources. One was Fox News and the other was PBS news. The PBS one was a lot less direct, but some rando who knew nothing about him could still take that message away. Zero mention of what he advocated for beyond challenging opinions on college campuses and mentioning he was a right wing influencer. They were playing up the think of the CEO’s family card just like they did with the UHC CEO. Oh and don’t forget the 247 (/s) random politicians who condemn political violence.
- Comment on Shape up. 1 week ago:
So the first guy they suspected was George Hodgson Zinn who apparently said something like ‘I’d do it again’ when he was near some of the cops. They let him go because he didn’t match footage they have of the shooter and he was in the wrong place for the shot. Then they rearrested him for obstruction of justice. I’m not sure on the second, maybe it’s the same person and they got mixed up with a game of telephone.

I like them anyway, but your comments never fail at being slightly annoying. I know it’s parody of trump and his type of posts, but it’s just a little too on the nose and the intermittent all caps words gets on my nerves. 10/10 Boomerposting

Why can’t the people we vote for represent us?
Politicians were never meant to represent us (the people). We the people was war propaganda to revolt against the English and their king. They have, since the founding of the US, represented the business owners (landowners). And even after giving women and black people the right to vote, the system still mostly represents the interest of the business owners.
Bug report closed: System works as intended.
For the politicians to actually represent us, we the people would need to have some sort of broad agreement on what we do and do not want. But unfortunately, the people don’t have the needed experience or education to come to that agreement. So instead we get 2 different flavors of politicians serving the owners and none serving the people. Pick your favorite team, but they do not currently represent the people’s interest, instead they represent the business owners’ interests.
As a people, our job is to attempt to bend the politicians and business owners’ to our will using what we currently have at our disposal: our actions and our words. But that still won’t get anywhere without many other people backing up our actions and our words with their actions and words. It won’t be easy, but it is necessary if we want to shape our societies future. If we don’t do it, we get shadowy groups like the heritage foundation doing it for the business owners and pushing it on our leaders.
Also the politicians’ job is largely dependent upon them listening to the demands of the businesses lobbyist as of now. If they don’t follow their wishes they can expect a harder battle to keep their seat. They would get less big campaign donations and stronger primary challengers as a result of their noncompliance. This makes our job harder since it is difficult to get them to understand something when their job and salary depends upon them not understanding it.

Also stealing wages via tips is different than not paying the difference between tipped min wage and regular minimum wage when there isn’t much business. Maybe there was some confusion on your part about what I was referring to there.
Both are forms of wage theft and both do happen, but I wasn’t referring to stealing tips in my OC. Perhaps I could’ve worded my comment better to make that clearer.

Why the hostility and insults to
unskilledessential workers? Those jobs are often worked at by young workers who don’t necessarily know their rights. I agree it’s bad business practice to do it but it absolutely happens. Its not your employer’s job to babysit your paycheck.
LOL Yes, it literally is.
dolts like you … If you arent reporting discrepancies, thats on you
Nice insult, very constructive. What would the capitalist business owners do without people like you putting down workers and defending their shitty business practices? Also ah yes it is the workers fault for that they are getting wages stolen from them not the owner’s or manager’s.
- Comment on Epstein puts my morality into perspective 1 month ago:
And lots of employers will refuse to pay more than the tipped rate on slow days stealing wages from the workers if they think they can get away with it.

Asking ”what is tagalog” is really disrespectful waste of everybody’s time.
That maybe a bit of an ironic opinion in this community. :)
The phrase ”english and tagalog” clearly indicates that it’s a language. Moreover, it is a single word, which is really, really easy to use a search engine for.
I get that but clarification can be helpful for the next 100 people that read the thread. Chances are most people won’t search it but they still wouldn’t mind knowing anyway.
Maybe I should’ve put an ‘um aCtUaLlY’ in front of the first point as I knew you weren’t saying it literally. I didn’t mean to insult or to put you down, I know we all have different things that annoy us. Anyway thanks for being so gracious and empathetic. :)

No, they are not. Big tech corps don’t care about you, they care about profit. They will gladly assist in genocide for a bit more profit.
There is really no need to reply with that to tell someone to search something themselves. There are better ways to encourage someone to look something up than that.
It is also lowkey annoying to ask a question and get a glib answer like that.
