I took up guitar during Covid and got obsessed. Now I am buying up beat up old guitars, cleaning, repairing, restringing them, and reselling them at a profit. It feels great to take an old guitar that may have been neglected for decades, and put it back in the hands of someone who will give it a new life.

Every time I start a hobby, I end up monetizing it, then all the fun goes out of it, and I eventually drop it.
- Comment on Democrats assail 'erratic' Trump over Iran strikes 4 days ago:
I don’t trust ANY politician to wage war, unless it were absolutely necessary. Even then, I would NEVER trust a Republican. They have a long record of waging war in order to boost the profits of the military-industrial complex. Dems aren’t much more trustworthy, but at least I’ll listen.
As for HitlerPig, no fucking way he should be allowed to manage a war. He’s too fucking stupid and incompetent (as are everyone in his administration charged with fighting wars) as well as the most prolific traitor in American history. He is nothing more than Putin’s muscle, and he will purposely lose a war if he thinks there’s money and/or power in it for him.
My son is draft age, and there is absolutely no way he will be fighting in a HitlerPig war.

Even if I wanted to see Iran get blasted, I wouldn’t trust HitlerPig to do it, or to manage the war that would result. Wait until someone responsible and intelligent is in office.
They just want a meat-grinder they can send illegal immigrants, dissidents, gays, welfare recipients, etc. through.
- Comment on After Israel and USA's bombing, wouldn't any supposed nuclear bombs go off if there were any? 4 days ago:
Excellent response.
I’m just commenting to say that they’ve determined that there is no rise in radiation around the sites they struck, so either there was no radioactive material stored there, or they didn’t impact the sites as badly as they are claiming. If there was radioactive material, it remained contained. They may still have to rebuild their facilities, but they still have the most important element, the uranium.
- Comment on Operation Narnia: Iran’s nuclear scientists reportedly killed simultaneously using special weapon 5 days ago:
They aren’t innocent, they are knowingly creating a devastating weapon of mass destruction for a regime who has declared that they intend to use it. While I don’t support this sort of unprovoked attack, I can’t get too worked up over the demise of literally mad scientists.

They first broke during the New Wave era, and were considered one of the quintessential New Wave superstars, along with The Cars, Talking Heads, Duran Duran, Flock of Seagulls, etc.

This reminds me of the Zebra Mussels in Lake Erie. In the 80s and 90s, invasive Zebra Mussels got into Lake Erie, and started spreading quickly. They would cover the surfaces of everything. They were afraid that they would eventually clog up the water inlet that supply drinking water to the region.
There was a near panic among government leaders for several years, as the mussels grew out of control, and no solution could be found. They even announced a contest with a significant reward if anyone could come up with a solution, but nobody could. So the problem increased.
Lake Erie is the shallowest of the Great Lakes, so pollution and stuff tends to concentrate there, making it very murky, and impossible to see. But the stuff in the water was food to the Zebra Mussels, and the population kept filtering the water, feeding.
Eventually, the population reached a level that the water was clearing up, allowing the sun to penetrate deeper into the water. It turns out that Zebra Mussels don’t like the sun, and between that, and the decreasing amount of food in the water, their breeding slowed significantly. Now they seemed to have reached a good balance. They aren’t going away, but they aren’t the existential threat that they once were either.
The best news is that since the water is much clearer now, it has caused an increase in scuba diving. Being the shallowest of the Great Lakes, Erie has also known over the centuries as a bad lake to be on in a storm, and there are many shipwrecks on the bottom. They were hard to dive on in the old, dirty water days, but today those wrecks are visible, and attracting diving tourists.
So all they had to do was nothing, and the Zebra Mussels problem fixed itself, and caused a new business segment to boom.

If I was calling every day about a legitimate issue (blasting an alarm in the middle of the night is legitimate), and they told me to knock it off, not only would I keep calling, I’d start calling every elected official at every level - municipal, county, state, federal (I’m in America). The police chief, the mayor, my city councilman, my county commissioner, my congressman, and my senator would all be getting daily calls and emails, and I would make sure to inform them that the reason they are hearing from me is because local police officers (name them if possible) refuse to do their jobs and address the problem.
The issue would be resolved within the week.
- Comment on The joy of quitting a shit job with an asshole boss 3 weeks ago:
I had a job I loved, although it was owned by a complete asshole. I got a new job, at nearly double the pay. I agreed to give 2 weeks notice, even though it was going to cost me a lot of money, which I needed (this was my first good paying job, and I was broke).
Rather than understand that I was doing him a favor, my asshole boss decided to torture me for my final two weeks. I put up with it for a week, then told him I was done on Friday. I was essentially paying out of my pocket to give him 2 weeks, but I wasn’t going to pay him to abuse me, so I just left him standing there with his mouth agape.
I took the weekend off, and started my cool new new job on Monday (and it was a cool job, one of the best I’ve ever had).

I managed to find a new instance, but my posts haven’t ported over. Looks like I’m starting over.
