- Comment on Dynamic pricing could be coming to your local supermarket 14 hours ago:
They already do this in Korea. I don’t know if they are actually changing prices moment-to-moment, but they are using e-ink price tags that are impossible to distinguish from their printed, paper brethren. I saw one glitch out one day, and that was the only way I could tell. I mean, I guess I might be able to tell if I hunched down and inspected one closely, but it seriously looked identical to the same old printed ones at a glance.

If this were to happen, all of you are going to completely destroy Bitcoin. Haha!

How dare you interrupt my doomscrolling!
Really thanks though. Shit’s depressing. This is fantastic.
- Comment on Twitch: "Hey, come back! This commercial break can't play while you're away." 3 days ago:
They’ve blocked Twitch in Korea. I don’t miss it.

Does that mean I can stop paying taxes?

I played it in my third year of university (it was directly responsible for a few bad grades.) Am I dead already?
- Comment on ESL homework 2 weeks ago:
Haha! I am an ESL teacher in Korea. One of the funniest things I’ve had a student submit was about their family’s favorite foods. A student somehow managed to translate “chicken” as “cock”. More than one of their family members liked “cock” a whole lot.

And probably your daily recommended sodium intake X 3.

Smart! I should probably just give up social media on all platforms.

I’m not always so successful I realize as I read this post on my phone waiting for my take out.
- Comment on 3 weeks ago:
I’m the opposite. I avoid social media on my phone by reading books or playing Simon Tatham’s puzzles. I get enough on desktop. Probably too much. Pimp’s gotta pimp.
- Comment on 3 weeks ago:
Looking at this stuff on desktop as always really makes realize just how many people access the Internet primarily through mobile now. It’s a weird, and somewhat disturbing thought. You’ll pry my desktops out of my cold, dead hands.
- Comment on How do you communicate "sorry, my bad" when you make a mistake while driving? 3 weeks ago:
Ha! The biggest problem with drivers in my hometown is that they’re too polite. It’s dangerous when people don’t take their right-of-way. It causes confusion in drivers who know whose right-of-way it is. It’s also infuriating being stuck behind someone who thinks they’re doing people a favor by sitting at a four-way stop until all traffic disappears instead of taking their proper turn.
- Comment on How do you communicate "sorry, my bad" when you make a mistake while driving? 3 weeks ago:
Huh. Same in Korea. Which was odd to me when I moved here since I’m from Canada and it is not the practice there.
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 3 weeks ago:
Final Fantasy XII. I played it at launch and loved it. Spent 120 hours with it and beat every boss except for the one ridiculously hard fight.
Either it or I haven’t aged very well. I’m 60 hours in and have to push myself to play it. I might just move onto something else or beeline the story and stop with the side content and call this one misguided nostalgia.

I’m running a 5600x with a 3080. I might be alright. I’ll have to check it out.

What kind of specs do you need to run it smoothly? Does any of the online stuff work?
- Comment on Games you really want to play, but can't or won't? 4 weeks ago:
Bloodborne
The last console I owned was a PS3, and I don’t plan on ever having another. Sony thankfully mostly got with the program and released a bunch of their stuff on PC, but Bloodborne remains a standout.
- Comment on RAM Prices Got You Down? Try DDR3. Seriously! 4 weeks ago:
Yeah, I probably don’t need 32gb either, but RAM was so cheap at the time, and it gave me the chance to put my old 16gb into my work PC which was down to 8 since a stick died on me.

Also using 2019 hardware! I dread the day something dies, though. Luckily I upgraded to 32gb of RAM the last time it was super cheap. I’m hoping this machine has another ten years in it.
