I’m a little done holding space for people trying to argue that being overweight/obese is not a serious health issue. Like, we need to treat it like smoking: no, you’re not a bad person for smoking, but smoking is bad for your health and quitting is good.
I honestly think there’s a lack of personal responsibility among folks—particularly online—who simply refuse to see anything wrong with themselves and think all lifestyles are equally valid no matter what.
Idk, as someone who’s struggled with being overweight since childhood, it really bugs me to try to reframe obesity as something that’s not a serious health problem and that society needs to accommodate certain unhealthy life choices. Again comparing with smoking, I’m very very VERY glad that stores/restaurants now ban smoking indoors. Sucks for the smokers, sure, but society does not need to accommodate all ways of life—particularly those that are straight up unhealthy. If you want to adopt unhealthy behaviors, that’s on you; don’t make it my problem.
- Comment on Why is the progress pride flag so poorly designed (especially the intersex progress pride flag)? Will it be redesigned? 4 days ago:
God this website is just like reddit. Dumbasses just saying shit. No, the original Pride flag had 8 colors, and each color had a specific meaning. It wasn’t just “to encompass everyone.” Like what the hell, lemmy? Why are we doing bogus discourse on here too? Every year I gotta deal with a bunch of fucking straights dumping on the Progress Pride flag—seriously go fuck yourselves.
- Comment on Why is the progress pride flag so poorly designed (especially the intersex progress pride flag)? Will it be redesigned? 4 days ago:
Why is this upvoted so much? Do you know anything about the Pride flag? Each color represented a particular concept (e.g., sex, sunlight, nature). The colors mean something and weren’t just a catch-all concept to “represent everyone.” Like you’re just saying shit lol. The fact that I see this dumbass discourse EVERY YEAR tells me that maybe it’s not just aesthetics that folks are complaining about, I think some people are bitches and don’t wanna make room. The Progress Pride flag is great and makes clear that it really is for everyone, not just gay men. Get over yourself fr.

- Comment on where are worker rights parades? why are we focusing on very limited issues? 2 weeks ago:
Disagree that it’s “5% of the population max” — I’ve seen estimates that around 10% of the population are lgbtq… but even assuming it’s 5%, in a country of 340 mil, that comes out to 17 million people. And a bunch of people at pride are straight, so it’s no wonder why they draw in such huge numbers each year.
Regardless… what does gay pride have to do with workers rights? Why does that make you mad — they’re not preventing anyone else from organizing? And from my experience, lgbtq folks are very vocal about workers rights specifically (given the discrimination they face in the workplace for being gay/trans/etc)
And unlike some other movements, there is a very rooted history of public demonstration by the gay/trans community given laws specifically preventing them from gathering in public. In many ways, pride parades represent gay/trans people reaffirming their rights to literally just be in public together without being arrested.
So yeah… I get that there should be more public demonstrations — I’m all for that. But leave gay/trans rights alone please lol

- Comment on The FDA Is Approving Drugs Without Evidence They Work 2 weeks ago:
Not arguing against the substance of the article, but I can’t help but wonder if this is the best way to address this issue. Measles was eradicated from the US but is now back and has claimed lives purely due to vaccine skepticism. I just worry that yet another article criticizing the FDA for pushing drugs that aren’t safe/effective will do more harm than good at this point. Idk, I just sincerely question if now is the time to give americans more reasons not to trust medical professionals. (Again, not arguing with the substance of the article—very disappointing and disturbing that FDA is doing this—but just concerned about the time, manner, and place of this criticism.)

When Mario Galaxy dropped as the Wii’s launch title in 2007, it cost $50. Adjust for inflation, and that comes out to $77 in 2025. Why tf are people clutching their pearls over the price? Why are people acting like Covid and inflation didn’t happen? Nintendo is staying right in that same price range it always has. The bitching and whining needs to stop.

As a man, this has legit always bugged me. We use “girls” in contexts that we would NEVER use “boys” in, even when they’re the same age.
- Comment on At least Quark had some integrity. 2 months ago:
Sorry mate, not how language works. Men is a noun, male is usually an adjective, they aren’t interchangeable. Depending on the context, it can be weird/wrong to call groups of people by an adjective (exp. illegals, poors, disableds). Hearing men call women “females” sounds weird af dude, you’re proving OP’s point.
