Discovery isn’t a bad show, but Discovery is TERRIBLE Star Trek. Not because its “woke” but because it acrively goes out of its way to eschew most of the tropes that make Trek what it is, the most egregious being the Spore Drive and instant travel. Academy was a much better Trek show than Discovery, to compare the two modern “futuristic” shows.

Yeah, people call me stupid, but I have been complaining for a while about Google using its market power to bully standards that only benefit itself.

The one I got flac a lot for was the https thing. Like yes, https is good, but it also ads an often unneeded layer of complexity for small time web stuff. It also makes it slight a pain for local stuff since you can’t https an IP, it needs a domain.

On top of that, it harms one of Google’s main ad/tracking xompetitors, ISPs. Now, we can debate if tracking is good or not (its really not), but beside that point, Google has a zillion other ways to track you, ISPs, less so, they are not embedding tracking pixels and shit or backdooring your browser history. And Google gets to kneecap them by penalising anyone not using https.

They tried to do the same thing to other competition by pushing to kill cookies, but backed off. Once again, is tracking good or bad? Not the debate here. But Google tracks you other ways, many of their competitors in the ad space use cookies. Or track traffix on their networks (ISPs).

Tracking good or bad is debatable, but lack of competition in pretty much anyspace is bad.

As much as I hate it, some.business entities kind of feel they need to be there to spread news.

On the other hand, I hate when its the only/primary way.

Yeah, there is a conspiracy argument to be made that the shit job market is intentional to drive young people to join the military because basically everyone has realized that dying for corporate interests is stupid as fuck and that is all the military has become.

Well, at least continuity wise, the Discovery thing works. Because of these shows, it wpukd be Disco -> TOS -> TNG -> Academy

The one that gets me me, and its a bit of a “its different” complaint. Apparently the interior designer for the original Enterprise was Vukcan, because its all white and huge.

Yes, also these are the times when the people self checking in front of you are all the people in town who haveliterally never seen a barcode before in their life, so they spend 5 mimutes puzzling over each item.

Was this at a Kroger or related store? Their stupid self checkouts are over tuned and constantly bitch about not scanning even if it scanned. The Walmart ones, for example, do not, ever. Not vocally anyway.
