See, again, per this comment, I just don’t feel like I’m looking at a guy who can realistically aspire to much more than this. He has idiot face. Is no one else seeing this?

Give me a semi–plausible reason why these beans need to be unmixed into 15 separate piles and I will give it all of my focus.

It will be interesting to see if repeatedly raiding and busting these operations will be any more effective in curtailing them than the numerous other substances police have been chasing their tails over my entire life.
- Comment on Spotify Add Lossless Audio(24-bit / 44.1 kHz FLAC) for Premium Subscribers 1 week ago:
I want this, and although there isn’t always a perceptible difference in audio quality, there sometimes can be. It depends on the content, and I’d rather sometimes stream audio at an excessively high bitrate than always lose the high–end definition that I could have enjoyed where it exists.
All my life I’ve been getting into disagreements with people who believe that because they can’t tell the difference between A and B, I must not be able to either. I find this immensely frustrating.

True story, but only one of the three cats in that house went full crackhead over them. I guess some cats are more vulnerable to addiction than others.

Tragic, and so reminiscent of addict behaviour in humans. Always with the “one last hit”.

These cat treats are essentially little nuggets of animal digest which, while not necessarily unhealthy in moderate quantities, are clearly addictive to a lot of cats. A web search for “my cat is addicted to Temptations” will show that my experience was not unique.
My parents give their cats Temptations. While I was living with them, they would give them to my cat too. My cat, who had previously had a pretty normal attraction to food, became transfixed on the pantry where he knew the Temptations were stored. He was no longer interested in my company, and only sought me out so he could lure me to the kitchen where he would sit and stare at that closed pantry door. When I opened it, he’d start yowling and fighting to get inside. Sometimes he would even attack my leg if I tried leaving the kitchen without giving him a Temptation. It was shocking and upsetting to see my sweet, gentle little cat acting this way. I’d known this cat for 5 or so years at this point, and it completely changed his personality. He just didn’t give a shit about anything but his next Temptation.
I established new rules for cat treats. They are not to be stored in open containers, they are not to be stored at cat height, and they are not to be fed to my cat. Ever. After a few weeks, his temperament returned to normal, but a mild fixation on that bottom shelf of the pantry lingered for much longer.

I have tried, and writing my last comment actually brought a lot of repressed rage out. I’ve been too lenient on my friends and family who continue to use things like Facebook and X, because I didn’t want to be that opinionated, ideological snore who won’t shut up about how Facebook is the world’s most prolific purveyor of hate speech, propping up the Trump administration, Israel, LGBT hate groups, the Rohingya genocide, housing discrimination, abortion witch hunts, blah blah blah. But the thing is that these are true things, and people should be appalled enough to never touch a Meta product again, even if it means teaching an elderly family member to learn a new group messaging app.
So I’m back to being a loudmouth bitch who scolds people for using Facebook. And X. But I probably don’t stand a chance with Google.

We wouldn’t need so many damn laws to prevent shitty companies from doing shitty things if we could just become the kind of society that doesn’t support shitty companies. The cookie thing is a great example of how a well–intentioned regulation made the internet an even more irritating place to be.

Not sure whether it changes anything for you, but I think they’re proposing that each dollar past the 3 million be taxed at 95%. Both the 3 and the 95 being spitball numbers, of course. I’m not confident that 3 million will be worth much at all in 40 years anyway.

My first thought was that odd numbers have soft edges, and even numbers are hard. I didn’t really know why I feel this way, but I always have. Your comment made me realise that geometry might have something to do with it.
What I still don’t fully understand though, is why I attribute personality types to numbers the way I do. Why do I think that 7 is dim–witted, and 2 is arrogant? You don’t have to have an answer. I just think about it sometimes.

I’m not at all superstitious, but so quick to attach sentimental value to things that I would instinctively know that this salt can never be thrown away or used in cooking for the rest of my life. I’d have to get an ornate urn for that salt, and it would become a thing I’d have to lift each time I’m dusting the shelves. Fucking salt.

You’re getting stuck on my failure to read the summary because you thought this was an opportunity to make someone feel stupid online. That fact is that I did read it, and the article, however my brain disregarded the miniscule detail that we’re only talking about the friends part of Bumble because it has no influence on my overall takeaway. Stop being weird.
