- Comment on Is there a self-help way to deal with fear of germs/"contamination"? 3 days ago:
This may not help you, but what helps me is randomly choosing times to be “dirty”. Not with showering, but your hands/feet. Obviously, if you get something bad like salmanella or poop on your hands, wash it off. But sometimes, if I place my hands on the ground, or they just get dirty in general, I’ll not wash my hands before eating. I do this because I am very well aware that my hands are not clean, but it’s like exposure therapy for me so that it doesn’t get too out of hand.
Don’t spread the grossness to others, like if you had dirty hands, don’t cook or place your hands all over people, but just expose yourself to it for a little bit so that you can realize a little bit of gross is ok.
- Comment on So now that it's that time of year again in the US, what are some tips and tricks for dealing with that one relative who goes on about the same bullshit for hours and won't shut the fuck up? 5 weeks ago:
Provide no opinions. Pretend like you know nothing about politics. Ask questions. They will argue themselves into a corner, get embarrassed, and then stop talking about it. It requires little effort from you, and they do all the work.
- Comment on Why do so many boomers and even some gen x believe so peristently that if you dressup and show up in person anywhere you will get whatever you went there for? 2 months ago:
That’s what they did the last time they searched for a job. It used to work.

Depends on where you are. 10 over on some roads is crazy, but there are many roads where 20 over is still fine.

I asked if 178bpm was a healthy exercise heart rate, and it told me that 178bpm was a healthy RESTING (meaning not exercising; just sitting or laying down) heart rate. It proceeded to go on about that for two more sentences. This was a few months ago.

I wouldn’t say “jerk”, but maybe a little insensitive to supporting his dreams. The hard part about being a parent is that your kid needs to fail sometimes, and your protesting to the failing will only create a divide between you two. Offering advice once is totally fine, but continuing will make the situation worse. He will likely fail pursuing his dream, and reality will hit him hard afterwards, but that’s ok. Just make sure he has your support, and he knows you love him.
It doesn’t matter that you’ve learned this life lesson already. He hasn’t. Sometimes, you have to learn the hard way for it to stick.
- Comment on What keeps Americans from being mad about the state of their country? 10 months ago:
Republicans have majority control over the media. They don’t know what’s happening because their news doesn’t cover it.

On Email? Never. Through messaging like microsoft teams with a coworker you already know? Sure. With your boss? Maybe not, but that depends on your boss. It’s pretty normal for work messages to be more bland, though.
