Anyone see Chucky?
- Comment on What are your approaches to donating? 1 week ago:
My wife buys gift cards to restaurants with quality food (usually fast casual without table service) and hands them out to the homeless. We also donate razors, feminine products, etc. to a local house that gets supplies out to the homeless.
- Comment on Operation Narnia: Iran’s nuclear scientists reportedly killed simultaneously using special weapon 1 week ago:
If that’s your metric, then I think Israel meets it. Iran has sponsored and directed non-state actors in Israel. These include both Hamas and Hezbollah. Additionally, Houthi militants have targeted Israeli civilian shipping.
- Comment on Operation Narnia: Iran’s nuclear scientists reportedly killed simultaneously using special weapon 1 week ago:
An official declaration of war is not required. These nuclear scientists are not protected by the Geneva convention because Iranian nuclear infrastructure, including persons, are military targets. The purpose is to destroy Iran’s nuclear capacity and that’s a purposeful military objective.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 week ago:
Honestly, that’s what they need to hear. The woman in your example was an 18 year old adult and couldn’t handle basic chores. There’s no way she’s going to thrive if she needs to whine to ransoms online every time she’s gotta do something mildly unpleasant.
- Comment on Operation Narnia: Iran’s nuclear scientists reportedly killed simultaneously using special weapon 1 week ago:
Civilian nuclear scientists working in enrichment are not protected by the Geneva convention. Technically it is legal to kill them when engaged in warfare.
- Comment on Operation Narnia: Iran’s nuclear scientists reportedly killed simultaneously using special weapon 1 week ago:
Just to play devils advocate, what circumstances is it legitimate for Israel to attack Iran?

Done. What’s next on my list?
- Comment on For All That Is Good About Humankind, Ban Smartphones 2 weeks ago:
Do it anyway. I use adb to modify my phone and make it suck less. I also look forward to the day (if it ever comes) where Linux phones are a viable replacement option.
- Comment on Is Google about to destroy the web? 2 weeks ago:
We have good options to replace Google Search. What good options exist to replace search on Google Maps?

Can someone clarify which blood test was used? I want to get tested every two years.
- Comment on Twenty-seven states and DC sue 23andMe to oppose the sale of DNA data from its customers without their direct consent 2 weeks ago:
The sale is the entire company and assets to Regeneron Pharmaceuticals.
NPR reported in this issue:
Regeneron Pharmaceuticals said last month it aimed to buy the company for $256 million. Regeneron said it would comply with 23andMe’s privacy policies and applicable law. It said it would process all customer personal data in accordance with the consents, privacy policies and statements, terms of service, and notices currently in effect and have security controls in place designed to protect such data.
I don’t know much about Regeneron Pharmaceuticals but previously I read from others here that they represent the best case scenario.
- Comment on Month-long awareness celebrations 3 weeks ago:
June belongs to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Since Catholics live everywhere, I would say month long celebrations are everywhere.

- Comment on Geologists doubt Earth has the amount of copper needed to develop the entire world 4 weeks ago:
One of my family members had that job for a good while. What’s interesting is the phone companies did not keep great records of what’s copper and where it is, so a lot of it is likely to remain in place for a long time. Something else he has seen is thieves cutting fiber, thinking it is copper, and causing outages, although that is less frequent than it was years ago.
- Comment on Google is Using AI to Censor Independent Websites 4 weeks ago:
I seek out out-of-the-way websites maintained by one or two people and then subscribe by RSS. RSS may be the only thing left keeping the web sane.

There are certain students the administration is likely going to want as international students. Israelis, white South Africans, and Hungarians, for example.
- Comment on Geologists doubt Earth has the amount of copper needed to develop the entire world 4 weeks ago:
I remember when phone lines were made of copper. We were sure that it would be impossible for everyone to have a phone.
- Comment on ‘Alexa, what do you know about us?’ What I discovered when I asked Amazon to tell me everything my family’s smart speaker had heard 5 weeks ago:
Your phone is doing it too. TV too, if you have one. Don’t forget about your doorbell!
- Comment on The technology to end traffic deaths exists. Why aren’t we using it? 5 weeks ago:
The last mile can be 25 mph. That alone will eliminate 99% of traffic deaths, especially if the roads are designed to make it uncomfortable to go above 25 mph.
- Comment on how did you and your partner change after having a baby? 5 weeks ago:
Latin Mass Catholic. So perhaps that makes more firm your impression of me. That said, I really don’t mind a sincere conversation, if you care to ask any questions.
- Comment on how did you and your partner change after having a baby? 5 weeks ago:
I might be insane. Do the insane know when they are insane? Either way, I am open to AMA style questions if you sincerely care to find out if your impression carries with me too.
- Comment on how did you and your partner change after having a baby? 5 weeks ago:
Actually, she’s cuter! 😉
- Comment on how did you and your partner change after having a baby? 5 weeks ago:
Having babies made my wife more affectionate and concerned about my own well-being. It was so great, we now have 11 children together. She’s a real blessing.
- Comment on The USA spends $15k/student annually which is 30% higher than the global median. Why do U.S. schools have "fundraisers" where kids are incentivized to sell stuff to people? 5 weeks ago:
That’s $15,000 not $15. The answer is schools are corrupt fronts for contractors who milk the district of every dollar. Construction, service, demolition, and reconstruction of buildings is expensive!
- Comment on Mozilla is shutting down Pocket, their read-it-later and content discovery app, and Fakespot, their browser extension that analyzes the authenticity of online product reviews. 5 weeks ago:
Owning things like Pocket is fine as long as each product stands on it’s own. Melding them together is what upsets their user base.
- Comment on Call to defederate from feddit.org over zionism 5 weeks ago:
I don’t subscribe to any communities on that instance. If you defederate, I probably won’t notice. If we can do anything that’ll even make marginally better the lives of those who have gone through so much, I support what good we can do.

If you start such a community, I’ll subscribe. What topics would you want this community to address?

I’m teaching my 15 year old how to drive and we drive a manual transmission. She’s doing just a well as her three older siblings that learned on automatics.
