You can set it to wipe them from memory on different conditions, including instantly if youre that paranoid, sure its still possible. Its an optional feature most people wont use, but its pretty well thought out.

Molly encrypts it using a passphrase instead of a locally stored key for exactly that reason.

- Comment on Need help with searxng docker compose 6 days ago:
The problem is that while docker is running as root (0) the searxng process internally runs as a user searxng with id 977
So your filesystem outside of docker needs to have those files assigned the right ownership.
This thread has a more detailed discussion that you might find helpful.
- Comment on Need help with searxng docker compose 6 days ago:
Yep Probably you need to change ownership and/or permissions of the files outside of docker.
I dont want to give the wrong suggestion from memory so hopefully thats enough info to get you going in the direction of a fix. Basically see what user id owns the files inside of docker, make it the same uid outside of docker in the folder you are bind mounting.
- Comment on Need help with searxng docker compose 6 days ago:
If you have permissions then try editibg uwsgi.ini and see if it lets you save.
Im going from memory but i think i had a similar issue and i had to manually create the file, yours shows the file already exists but it might not be writable.
- Comment on Need help with searxng docker compose 6 days ago:
try opening a shell with ’ docker exec -it searxng sh" and see if you can cat the file from inside docker, if yes then I’m not sure of a solution ,if no then the problem is with permissions on your filesystem outside of docker where you have " - ./data/searxng:/etc/searxng" You need to go to ./data/searxng and correct the permissions so they can be read inside the docker.

open(“/etc/searxng/uwsgi.ini”): Permission denied [core/io.c line 525]
I think here is your problem.

Point is you are setting yourself up for disappointment in the future.
Like you see this constant cycle of software becoming wosre as the companies want more and more money and your response is just “yeah but it wont affect my use case so i dont care”
Yeah im sure when it comes to plex, the app based off making pirates into paying customers, it wont fall victim to the same thing.
Gee leopards seem to be getting awful fat lately.
- Comment on That's all folks, Plex is starting to charge for sharing 3 weeks ago:
Im talking about all of plexs infrastructure, the hosting for the app, providing tunnels for users without port fwding, maintaining user accounts and usage data, emails… A lot goes into running a service like plex besides just “auth and verification”…and thats not even including the staff required to maintain it and developers to keep all the apps updated.

It will be if you depend on plex for streaming
- Comment on That's all folks, Plex is starting to charge for sharing 3 weeks ago:
How mamy months of server costs do you think those lifetime passes cover? If everyone just paid once for a lifetime then plex as a service can no longer function.

I used soundiiz, it costs $5 a month but i really just needed it the one month. I exported to a csv and then downloaded it all using tidal-dl and streamrip. You can import/export across a bunch of different serciservices.

You should not trust any company to stand up against court orders.
I like when companies openly show what data they do provide, all of the good vpns do.
- Comment on Tools to migrate from Plex to Jellyfin? 1 month ago:
Sunk cost is more then just money… Every reply here is some variation of “i would switch but i have all my ratings and users settings in plex already and dont know how to migrate”
Which i can understand paying because you dont have time, i just also think its foolish to pay for a service like plex when the main use case is piracy, something a company like plex clearly can not continue to support legally forever.
Eventually the big media corps will decide they need to end all library sharing options and plex will not be able to win that fight.
- Comment on Tools to migrate from Plex to Jellyfin? 1 month ago:
Its about $60 more then ive ever paid for any software, and its literally a tool for piracy, why would i pay a company that clearly want to pivot to being a second rate netflix with ads, when i can get what i need for free and not support a shitty tech company.
It was the same thing with realdebrid, its just foolish to think these companies arent going to start cracking down on any kind of “sharing” features until eventually they get removed due to pressure from the anti piracy goons.
If you got your money worth thats great but id rather direct my money to projects that arent trying to profit off pirates until they can pivot to being a legit service and wall out what actually made them good in the first place.
Its clear at this point plex is getting worse and jellfin is getting better. Almost all the replies sayibg they still use plex have a “BUT” in them about wanting to switch and being stuck because they dont know how to transfer this or that (ratings, view counts, etc), which im going to look more into later to see if i can help with.
- Comment on Tools to migrate from Plex to Jellyfin? 2 months ago:
Or sunk cost fallacy, but whatever helps you justify paying $120 for software i guess. I dont think its a black and White one size fits all thing, i just have seen this patter before with other software, and it was already happening with plex before the price increase.
- Comment on Tools to migrate from Plex to Jellyfin? 2 months ago:
PLEX is not FOSS, plex is a proprietary for profit fork of XBMC.
My point is that in 5 years a lot of these plex users will wish they made the switch to jellyfin sooner. We’ve seen this before with other FOSS projects that gets forked into proprietary bullshit to make money.
