I look forward to only criminals having access to encryption
- Comment on Funkwhale Wants to Filter Out Far-Right Music 1 week ago:
This seems like well intentioned but ultimately pointless. Nothing is stopping a nazi group from just forking off an older version like how gab did with mastodon, and no currently active funkwhale pods allow right wing content already.

Which instance do you use? Mine had been having issues recently
- Comment on How North Korea pulled off a $1.5 billion crypto heist—the biggest in history 1 week ago:
In a way crypto has fulfilled the promise of “banking the unbanked”… Its just that the main group of ”unbanked” people happened to be criminals and scammers.
Its been a huge boom for scammers, before this you had to convince people to use wester union or something and convince a person they are talking to some inconvenienced soon to be oil barron, now all they do is throw up a website with tradingview charts and people will throw money at them.

You know its good for kids if roblox is involved. That company puts every child coal mine of the past to shame with how well theyve managed to exploit kids.

Your bank has an option to export transaction history to a CSV file that can be imported into a spreadsheet.
Anything more automated is going to sell your data or cost a subscription or both.

Funkwhale is still actively maintained, the last release was less than a year ago.
- Comment on SpacebarChat - a selfhosted, Discord-compatible communication platform 5 months ago:
I think the idea here is that you are running your own discord, and only people with modded clients can use it because its not approved by discord.
- Comment on SpacebarChat - a selfhosted, Discord-compatible communication platform 5 months ago:
is there any sort of way to have the chat logs be public and searchable? the worst thing about discord being a walled garden is that all the info on it can only be accessed by a discord client.
- Comment on How can you make sure the ashes you get after a loved one dies is actually theirs? 5 months ago:
Well I don’t think they do cremations in groups like that. If they do then yeah there is no way to know who’s ashes, but I would also say theres no way to prove they aren’t and really in the end its all just carbon.
- Comment on How can you make sure the ashes you get after a loved one dies is actually theirs? 5 months ago:
it lets you know they lied about what ashes you got
- Comment on Proxying torrent traffic to homeserver 5 months ago:
What you describe doesnt really make sense.
You want your vps to be the wireguard server, the local PC connects as a client this “proxies” your connection so torrent swarms see the IP of your vps.
If you want port forwarding it gets a bit complicated because you need to forward the vps port over wireguard, but this is optional so you dont have to worry if you can’t figure it out.
Caddy doesn’t really seem relevant unless you want to have a domain name that forwards to your home network.
- Comment on Man Arrested for Creating Fake Bands With AI, Then Making $10 Million by Listening to Their Songs With Bots 5 months ago:
getting bots to fake engagement for a profit is money laundering, believe it or not. its a pretty vague crime that basically amounts to getting paid in a way thats deceptive, in this case the deception is the bots.
- Comment on Man Arrested for Creating Fake Bands With AI, Then Making $10 Million by Listening to Their Songs With Bots 5 months ago:
most lilely money laundering. Not really a new scam just adding AI to an old one

Its a totally separate thing from LoRaWAN. Its useful for messaging across town (if you live in an area with enough nodes), and it can do things like report on temperature an humidity or when a sensor is tipped, some devices support GPS too.
