- Comment on Is it possible to install my own OS on a "smart" TV? Is that a thing? 4 days ago:
Yes, thw differences are night and day. Every time I want to watch one of the few movies I own on Blu-ray, I turn my old PS4 on and remember how shitty a controller is for media playback and I download the movie and watch it on my Raspberry Pi with Kodi and a proper media remote.
So again: if I just want to watch Netflix, why should I add a console that has no advantages, but uses more power and forces me to use a controller that is nice for many games but shit for watching movies?

Your smart TV is a computer of some sorts. You can do shit like watching Netflix with it. If that is all you want to do, why should you use another device with it, that brings no benefits but uses more power?
- Comment on Patient gamers, which games have you discovered/played this week? 1 week ago:
Tomb Raider (2013). Played it once for a few hours with a friend on PS4, but we never had following sessions. So now I bought it in a bundle with TR 1-3 and now play the first reboot game after finishing the remaster of the 1997 title (also for the first time) last week.

What is your problem with the price related to the length of the game?

So you know that really neat trick, where you don’t buy the newest games and you can get most of them for a few bucks?
- Comment on How come people who are against abortion are in favor of the death penalty? Kind of seems like a contradicition/ 4 weeks ago:
A (human) mother that carries a growing fetus is a living being a pig, dog or a cow as well. They feel physically and emotionally and can be hurt.
A fetus is, up to a certain point, just a slab of meat.
As a vegan I don’t care about slabs of meat, I care about living beings.

- Comment on Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered announced for PS4 and PS5 – WGB 1 month ago:
Don’t worry, the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver remasters are also coming to PC
I played the original for a few hours when it was still fresh, but lost interest. Maybe with better controls …
- Comment on I like reading them 1 month ago:
Two things:
- This is pretty funny
- Why is it censored? Are the platforms doing that or the creators themselves, because they fear (rightfully), the post will be deleted/demonetarized/delisted or whatever? Fuck that!
- Comment on PS5 being used by scammers because it's so expensive 1 month ago:
Why? In the past, consoles where their own, distinct thing. Nowadays, they are just locked-down PCs.
- Comment on Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered confirmed by ESRB rating 2 months ago:
After the tutorial area the game opens up and becomes really great. A bit like with The Last of Us which had some really bad first hours.

Sure, but maybe they would, if you instead of liking ate their body parts and would pay an industry to kill them for that purpose? We can only speculate.

Nice.
- Comment on Happy Birthday 2 months ago:
A small correction and „fun fact“: there is no year zero. 1 BC is followed by 1 AD. Consequently things like the turn of the millennium happen a year after we celebrate them. But people found that weird.

Sure. And the Rothschilds were never never ever a synonym for „the Jews“ that is used by anti-semites to sell you the old fucking story that jewish people secretly control the world with their amassed money and influence. 🙄

He, funny. Why the anti-semitism, tough?
- Comment on HP forced to ditch popular printer range following user backlash 4 months ago:
I scan nearly all the crap that comes in through my (physical) mailbox and throw it away. My trusty Brother multi laser thingy sends it to me per e-mail and I can sort it later, when the PC is on. Once a month or so, I need to print some pages and it does that, too. Awesome thing, wouldn’t want to miss it.
- Comment on Here's why modern gaming suuuuucks. 4 months ago:
Exactly this. For me it becomes obvious, when I play older games. Sure, A Link to the Past is still a gem, Super Metroid or SMB3, too. Bit many of those older games, we have fond memories of, kind of suck today. Just a bit, they are still fun. But the magic is gone. Saw that with Sands of Time a few weeks ago. Then the System Shock Remake came and gave that sense of wonder back.
Downloads are no problem, go have fun discussing games on Lemmy while waiting for the download, watch a Video about it or whatever. Disk space is cheaper then ever. It is just harder to have fun, because we have sooo much to choose fromnand because some of us became old grumpy farts (myself included).

That doesn’t work. Either there is physical proof or there is none. Afaik the latter is correct.
- Comment on Objectivity 4 months ago:
If you really think that the core of capitalism is what you described, you have no clue what you are talking about. Funny, that you ended that by calling other peoples claims stupid.
- Comment on Objectivity 4 months ago:
We seem to be talking about different things here: science and the scientific method. Science is a process involving many different institutions and individuals with their personal worldviews, problems and interests. The state of the scientific method is a whole other discussion, I am not able to lead.
- Comment on Objectivity 4 months ago:
The process of science is not corrupted but deeply flawed. It is like that, because we as a species are as well. Science is the best method we have to create secured knowledge, but it is far from perfect. Things like predatory journals, lazy to non existing peer reviews in established publications, reports about scientists who are under pressure to create positive results even if their research had none of those etc. show us that .
Capitalism plays a big part in this problem. To plainly reject that is simply naive.

- Comment on [Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism? 6 months ago:
The problem is: most times it works the other way. You are at a barbeque and bring your own stuff. There are always people who feel obliged to talk shit about you – or worse, cannot shut up about their own meat consumption, how they only buy the „good“ meat and only seldom, but how hard it would be without cheese and so on.
Yeah, there are some preaching vegans, but those few are not the reason why some people are hating on us.

It is faster, doesn’t crash and you can read the answers to all comments. It lacks some features of NewPipe like the display dimming via swipe, but has some UI advantages (sharing without timestamp, you pain in the ass!).
