- Comment on What are some old games that are hard to revisit, because a more modern and superior version exists? 1 week ago:
Almost.

1 but micro, not fine.
- Comment on Good vibes 1 week ago:
Nah, comforting people is a form of social interaction. We are social animals and that helps us to survive bad situations. No magic in that.

I wish you the best.
I wish you a lot of strength to get through the situation.

Anything decent without bloatware, with a propper non-MediaTec processor and a long support time with security patches?
- Comment on Is there any hope for Ukraine to survive as an independent state now that trump is desperately wishing for a peace treaty with Russia, even bypassing Ukraine? 5 weeks ago:
Nah, depends on your position. Our departing government wasn’t too great, because one party (neoliberal shits called the FDP) sabotaged it from day one and the biggest party, the SPD had (and still has) a very bad leadership. So because people want change and are apparently not able to make rational choices, they will most probably give many voices to the conservative (think Democrats in the US) party, which will make an absolute piece of shit (Faschofritze Merz) their Chancellor. So from a US or russian perspective, we are totally fine, but I really fear this sunday (voting day)
- Comment on How prevalent is the topic of mental health in America compared to Germany? 1 month ago:
That is simply not true. It is a pretty annoying process and often takes time to get a therapy, nobody I know, including myself had to pay for this. And I know that because most people here are pretty open about therapy nowadays. There are more than enough problems with the German health care system, but OPs description fits my experiences muuuch more than what you describe.
- Comment on We have the meats 1 month ago:
There is a fast growing number of people that find the sight of dead animal meat disgusting.
You could say the picture is more NSFL than NSFW, which is quite ironic but true also for me.
- Comment on !antisexism@lemmy.today - a joint movement of men, women and nonbinary people against all sorts of gender-based discrimination 1 month ago:
To be honest, this is the first time, I heard that masculism is supposed to be more than slightly veiled anti-feminism. Maybe there are different roots for that expression? In Germany, the word is absolutely burned and every person calling themselvese masculinists are trash, as far I am aware of.
I think your idea about a community that wants to adress everybody by using the neutral term antisexism is a good idea, though.
- Comment on what was the last game you played in 2024? 2 months ago:
Gothic (2001). Still a really cool game!
- Comment on Good ear protection for concerts. 3 months ago:
Yep. They also have a range of amateur plugs (sounds kinkier then meant), like the SeepDeep or Partyplugs. They are generally pretty great.
- Comment on Is it possible to install my own OS on a "smart" TV? Is that a thing? 4 months ago:
Yes, thw differences are night and day. Every time I want to watch one of the few movies I own on Blu-ray, I turn my old PS4 on and remember how shitty a controller is for media playback and I download the movie and watch it on my Raspberry Pi with Kodi and a proper media remote.
So again: if I just want to watch Netflix, why should I add a console that has no advantages, but uses more power and forces me to use a controller that is nice for many games but shit for watching movies?
- Comment on Is it possible to install my own OS on a "smart" TV? Is that a thing? 4 months ago:
Your smart TV is a computer of some sorts. You can do shit like watching Netflix with it. If that is all you want to do, why should you use another device with it, that brings no benefits but uses more power?
- Comment on Patient gamers, which games have you discovered/played this week? 4 months ago:
Tomb Raider (2013). Played it once for a few hours with a friend on PS4, but we never had following sessions. So now I bought it in a bundle with TR 1-3 and now play the first reboot game after finishing the remaster of the 1997 title (also for the first time) last week.

So you know that really neat trick, where you don’t buy the newest games and you can get most of them for a few bucks?
- Comment on How come people who are against abortion are in favor of the death penalty? Kind of seems like a contradicition/ 5 months ago:
A (human) mother that carries a growing fetus is a living being a pig, dog or a cow as well. They feel physically and emotionally and can be hurt.
A fetus is, up to a certain point, just a slab of meat.
As a vegan I don’t care about slabs of meat, I care about living beings.

- Comment on Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered announced for PS4 and PS5 – WGB 5 months ago:
Don’t worry, the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver remasters are also coming to PC
I played the original for a few hours when it was still fresh, but lost interest. Maybe with better controls …
