- Comment on What is an average person living in the US supposed to do about corporations raising prices? 10 months ago:
You have to take action and I don’t mean wear an arm band and commit violence. The people in the driver’s seat are still people for now. Human beings with families and feelings. Call their companies, say their crimes to their frontline people, ask how they sleep at night. Call the executive offices. Do the same. Keep making noise. Keep protesting. Do not be silent, ever. Keep doing it in en masse until these greedy pigs realize they’re killing their own kind through apathy and greed.
Sit ins, phone line jamming, and socially ostracizing. Hold them to task any way you’re comfortable. Companies were freaking out over Twitter users and they only represented 3% of the internet at its peak. You have more power than you think.
- Comment on local hunger games construction almost complete 10 months ago:
If you ever notice construction is stalled in your city, it’s because it’s a racket.
They low bid the contract.
They take contract.
Work stops because they didn’t ask for enough money.
They’re already there, it’d cost too much to fire them or move their supplies and equipment. They know this so they drag their feet until the client pays more.
Construction begins again.

I’d subscribe if there were anything worth watching. Occupational reality shows on every channel. Streaming has gotten so bad lately that I don’t think we’re going to have a culture in the future just people setting themselves on fire for TikTok clout

Google should not be setting standards on something that is supposed to be open. Google should be getting dismantled and divided into individual companies that would fail without the surveillance apparatus that is the real product, which is why it will never happen and why they’re given unchecked power
- Comment on Law firm that handles data breaches was hit by data breach | TechCrunch 10 months ago:
I work in infosec this is just plain amateur. Should have used an MS-DOS computer as the mainframe and kept it in a basement server room that is also a faraday cage. This is a room that is only accessible by Anthony Hopkins and his clone Blanthony Blopkins in a dual key system.

- Comment on Your Car Is Tracking You. Abusive Partners May Be, Too. 10 months ago:
I remember when the rebuttal everyone used to all of these countless privacy infractions was “I don’t have anything to hide” as if life is going to be ideal always and that the person handling the information won’t use it for their own benefit. As usual this sort of misplaced paranoia people have about their cars doesn’t justify the existence of the app. Things like this are more of a threat vector than a tool.
I do not welcome this CCTV in the bathroom everyone is a channel dystopia that too many have bought into.

- Comment on The guillotine song 10 months ago:
They want to go to space because an asteroid if mined could have more raw materials than are in circulation.
Do you think that’ll be shared among our species or is it more likely they’ll use it as leverage to become something more powerful than kings, presidents or corporations. That is a tremendous amount of economic leverage if you can deliver it.
They have no interest in living in space but 100000000% interest in exploiting it for resources with autonomous miners. The space exploration/tourism is just to get R&D paid for by the big earners but not really wealthy. Not wealthy enough to make a space station anyway.
I don’t believe it’s possible for another 100 years but that’s 2 generations which is nothing if you’re a dynastic wealthy family who thinks you’re charting the course of humanity. If it sounds crazy keep in mind they were the original latch key kids, growing up with au pairs and private jets. Their thought process operates on a different inertia to the point of brain damage due to isolation from the consequences of their actions. One day we’ll view greed as a treatable mental illness in the DSM. They have a hard time relating to normal people and see the working class as meat machines.

- Comment on Should instances defederate with other instances anymore if we can filter instances out on our end? 10 months ago:
In general I think people are too eager to block and defederate for little to no reason other than disagreement. There are exceptions but as far as a normal conversation it’s an overreaction and the antithesis of federating anyway. We already have plenty of siloed walled gardens that are echo chambers.
