i find it absolutely hilarious when iphone fans talk about a polished user experience, it’s a joke.
- Comment on Apple is officially dropping iPhone support for web apps in the EU - The Verge 8 months ago:
honestly, the shitty user experience might make me chuck it into the trash before it actually dies.

looking forward to being able to have separate volumes for notifications and ringer again… "#/(%)&#)$%&

I moved from android to iphone 2 years ago. As soon as this piece of crap dies, I’m moving back to android.

- Comment on Tesla charging stations become ‘car graveyards’ as batteries die in subzero temperatures, abandoned cars left in the lot after cars wouldn’t charge 9 months ago:
gas cars generaly, from what I’ve been told, don’t use said gas to keep the car in operational condition. But maybe yours is different.
- Comment on Tesla charging stations become ‘car graveyards’ as batteries die in subzero temperatures, abandoned cars left in the lot after cars wouldn’t charge 9 months ago:
from what I understand from the article the problem is that people are queuing and because of long waiting times batteries die.
I honestly don’t understand why people are buying EVs if they don’t have the option of home charging.

It’s pretty funny seeing the discrepancy between this thread, and the other one where google is letting people off and commenters are pissed about it.
- Comment on Google CEO tells employees to expect more job cuts this year. 9 months ago:
people have a hard time admitting that their job today might be obsolete tomorrow, I believe this is already happening. If you’re not adaptable you’ll have a very hard time in the future.
- Comment on Google CEO tells employees to expect more job cuts this year. 9 months ago:
Why do they need to make more money than they already have?
because their investors expect them to. Welcome to capitalism and building shit with borrowed money.

As an aside, did anybody else find her vibe really offputting? I liked her content, but her enormous fake boobs and skimpy outfits were a distraction from otherwise interesting content.
indeed. I’ve never heard of her and seeing this I wanted to see what it’s all about - one look at her youtube (not even clicking on the video, the thumbnail was enough) and I decided nope, don’t really care.
- Comment on Beeper users say Apple is now blocking their Macs from using iMessage entirely 10 months ago:
If you’re aware of the limitations of iOS
there are some stupidly ridicilous ones too - like not being to use different volume for the ringer and notifications. Apparently too difficult for apple to implement. 🤦♂️
- Comment on 'It hasn't delivered': The spectacular failure of self-checkout technology 10 months ago:
looks like the majority of the complains are related to the weight sensors, and you can’t scrap those if you have people stealing - that does just not happen here.
- Comment on 'It hasn't delivered': The spectacular failure of self-checkout technology 10 months ago:
Never really had any problems.
Do yours freak out when you put your re-usable bags in the bagging area even when you tell it you’re using 4 of your own bags?
no weight sensors, and where there are, you can put the bags on the platform, wait for like 20 seconds for it to recognize them and continue with the scanning.
Or have two barcodes on packages and if the wrong one scans (either because you aren’t sure which needs to be scanned or because they’re next to each other and you don’t get a gun), you need a cashier to override?
never had that happen but this is the store’s problem and I’m guessing doesn’t happen all that often - neither the fault of the machine nor the customer.
Or have weight sensors that are just wrong about how much items should weigh?
never experienced that either with the ones that do have weight sensors.
Or only have enough room for like 2 bags of groceries but it isn’t ok to take any out of the bagging area?
the ones with weight sensors have like a 1m*1m platform, there’s plenty of room for like 3-4 full bags.
- Comment on 'It hasn't delivered': The spectacular failure of self-checkout technology 10 months ago:
I think in the last 5 years of using them exclusively I only had to wait in line once due to 3/6 of them being unavailable for maintainance.
- Comment on 'It hasn't delivered': The spectacular failure of self-checkout technology 10 months ago:
Like I said, the same self-checkout machines work wonderfully in switzerland. 🤷♂️

ugh… self checkout here works like a dream.
- Comment on Sideloaded app stores are coming to iOS in the EU 10 months ago:
for one, it drives me nuts that I can’t have separate volumes for the ringer and notifications.
- Comment on Sideloaded app stores are coming to iOS in the EU 10 months ago:
As someone who switched from android to ios two years ago, I’m still frustrated with just how much of a shit the user experience it is. Going back to lineageos as soon as I’m able and throwing this piece of shit iphone in the trash.

- Comment on Fear Mongering About Range Anxiety Has To Stop — CT Governor Calls Out EV Opponents 10 months ago:
I was among those worrying about range until I spent 5 minutes thinking about what I actually do on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
I was too - that was until this year when I’ve had to do multiple 800km long trips and I’ve found out that mentally I can’t really do longer than 200-250 km without a 20 min break. With that in mind, most of the EVs would be perfectly fine for me.

- Comment on China’s Nuclear-Powered Containership: A Fluke Or The Future Of Shipping? 10 months ago:
and its a molten salt design, which I think(?) (source: my ass) means that the fuel would at worst leak into the sea and immediately solidify back into some inert state.
tmsr design has a freeze plug, a part of fuel that has to constantly be actively below freezing temperature and if something goes wrong the fuel is just dumped into a separate container where the reactivity drops to zero. It never leaves the system.
