I mean by that measure AMD doesn’t make chips either…
- Comment on Freed At Last From Patents, Does Anyone Still Care About MP3? 3 weeks ago:
Aren’t there unofficial extensions to mp3 for gappless playback? IIRC you can tag tracks as gappless and many audio players will make them so.
- Comment on Autoplay videos are cancer to me 3 weeks ago:
Autoplay with no sound but you need the sound to understand it and your trying to click the tiny mute icon then you finally get it unmuted and there’s no obvious way to rewind and then it starts playing the next video and you can’t get back to it.

I don’t think Americans understand how much most of the world likes mayo.
- Comment on No beans, only dogs 3 weeks ago:
Oh but we definitely put mayo on our hot dogs here.
- Comment on No beans, only dogs 3 weeks ago:
Guatemala: remove the bacon wrap, add ketchup. Like, you can get it with bacon and without ketchup but you have to request both those things extra.

I’m assuming it’s just on the surface then? Seems like it would fall off if they went under water.

I just don’t understand how they wear them as hats and none of the articles have a picture.

It’s more pulsed than alternating IMO. It never goes negative, and there isn’t a consistent frequency.

- Comment on Report: Microsoft to face antitrust case over Teams 9 months ago:
And also all of their competition also kinda sucks. So like, Teams is worse enough that if you’re using it every day you’ll hate it but not worse enough that if you use it once or twice you’ll notice.

I had to pay $20 to a slightly shady online service cause one of my kids is an idiot and changed all his passwords cause one of the other kids knew them (because he told them…) then proceeded to forget all the new passwords.
So I know that on most models of Samsung phone you can just pay $20 to a slightly shady online service.

I have very mixed feelings about Bukele but nobody is leaving because of him. Salvadorian emigration has slowed greatly under him and many people are actually moving back.

I’ve also done the off grid thing and you can get way more than 2 hours on a car battery if the fridge is already cold and you aren’t constantly opening the door. Also have ran modem full sized fridges on 1000w inverters. So YMMV.
- Comment on This was the first result on Google 11 months ago:
Nah if the fridge starts cold and you aren’t constantly opening the door you can easily get 5 hours on a car battery.
- Comment on This was the first result on Google 11 months ago:
I mean that’s the least wrong part imo.
- Comment on This was the first result on Google 11 months ago:
Correction: they still use AC motors, but those motors don’t use line AC. It goes line AC > rectifier > DC > inverter board > variable frequency AC to run the compressor motor.

- Comment on Mozilla lays off 60 people, wants to build AI into Firefox 1 year ago:
I don’t really see it this way it’s just marketing. Saying “all other browsers descend from big bad corporate Apple” is scary, saying “all other browsers descend from another open source project” is meh.
