- Comment on My first lobsters, kind of mediocre. 2 days ago:
Every time I forage something for the first time, it tastes kind of mediocre. Idk how to cook it yet, how to pick the best part at the best time but the feeling of knowing for sure another edible plant is worth the mediocre taste.

I have no clue how they are supposed to be name. In French, we call the place “la région des grands lacs” and I was pretty sure I got the english name right.
- Comment on Tried naming the states from memory as a European 5 days ago:

La place du mort, c’est pas le siège du milieu a l’arrière ?
- Comment on Why is kindness often viewed as a sign of naïveté? 1 week ago:
Because many people mistake selfishness for strength and intelligence.
However, not matter how wrong they are and how deep in denial they go, at the end of the day mean selfish people are bad people and kind people are good ones. And these bad people look very stupid when they think they can get away with their bad behavior and the kind not naïve person, just say no and don’t back down.

- Comment on What would you do in this scenario? 5 weeks ago:
It probably dependes of your country but as a French, I would call the firemen. They are trained to removed some animals or to call the right professionnal for the job. They also are the specialist of fire hazard.

- Comment on The three musketeers never use muskets 1 month ago:
The french word “mousquet” means first a place of the belt where you hold stuff. Hence the name of the sword that you hold there, and the military unit that would were them even within the capital city as they were charge to protect the king. Later, it meant the firearm you could hold at the same place.

Try again after following the account that post. Having someone from your instance following a remote user is the best way to insure proper federation of content in the fediverse.
- Comment on Is the share button on pixeled does nothing 2 months ago:
That may be a federation issue. Are both account on the same instance?

- Comment on Fediverse for teens 2 months ago:
Fortunately, the current teenagers are much more aware of the danger than past generations. In my time, many teens thought parents just did not understand modernity and were panicking over nothing. The cyber-bulling and addiction to social media kept growing but at least the young generation has awareness.

I much as I want to introduce my family to the fediverse, I will not. Except for Mastodon maybe. Way to many creeps. Tech-savy, free-tech supporter creeps but creeps anyway. My parents did the same to me at a time when all my peers were into mobile phone and not like today’s kids realising how bad it can be. I turned out fine and more knowledgable about the technolgies I did choose to use than average. I wish my parenst have keep supervising me for one or two more years more.
Keep parenting. - Comment on Fediverse Social Media Guide 2 months ago:

You don’t need a lot of oil in a dressing. There is no need for them to be fat. I believe that if you dressing is incompatible with a healthy diet, it is hiding a deficency in taste until all that fat.

I use it everytime I want to make a asian-inspired salad. I haven’t had an issue in many years.

NO ! I will die on this hill ! Vinaigrette is made of mostly vinaigre (T_T) That’s not oilgrette or huilegrette.
The basic recipe is 1/4 oil, 3/4 vinaigre and plenty of salt.
Texture is obtain by emulsioning and the final product should be use right away.By reducing vinaigre quantity 1/3 (and no less) or even reducing further the oil, you get room for many extra flavoring or emulsifier that make the texture easier to obtain or more stable.
The adding of spice, or herbs (fresh or dried, grounded or not) doesn’t change anything in oil/vinaigre ratio. - Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
It is about challenging yourself to use a broader vocabulary and not to stuck with black filler or the broadest term that come to mind. These day I try to learn how to recognised tree. So I challenge myself not to use this word any more: I’m seeing an oak or an fir, a coniferious, a blackthorn but not a tree.
- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
What could I use then?
- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
Challenge accepted. I’ll try to avoid that word for as long I possible. I’ll ping you next time I realise I fail.
