It is suppose to be a guy coming to local market to put out the teeth of however cannot pay for dentist. It would usually come with a band to hide the cry of the “patient” and would commonly lie by telling to be able to do it painlessly. Exactly like the qikipedia describe it.
- Comment on Dentist the Menace 3 days ago:
It was still pretty common at that time in France. It’s not fine to pretend to be painless however it was a commun line in the trade. It has give us the saying “mentir comme (lying like) un arracheur de dent”.
- Comment on Dentist the Menace 3 days ago:
Did the concept of “arracheur de dent” didn’t exist in North America?

Apple juice is nice to do mixed. You can do cold infusion with spice or blend everything. Anything that goes in pumpkin spices goes well with apple juice. You can also blend fresh ginger.

I don’t know the english name but this one is very good. A nice balance or freshness and flavor.

I’m love to experience with different heat sensation when cooking. Every pepper is warming slightly differently and you can change the whole tasting experience by change the “heat source” of a dish. Recently, I’ve tasted Sichuan pepper and it what actually cold! And a cold very different from mint. Although round-leave mint and pepper mint (here another plant called pepper that’s cold!) have different sensation as well. I should try experiment with cold as well (*_*)

They looks identifical to nowday apple from a non-profesional perspective. Except the Hawaïan ones, I never saw a apple with pink flesh.

We also have a potato-like : word “patate”. “Pomme de terre” is déformation of “parmetière” from the name of M.Parmentier who introduce potatoes to the french population.

I don’t mind paying for news. I actually does it.
But I do mind being tracked because I read some news. I mind paying for a content whose access will be restricted to me after some random time. I mind not being able access to knowledge payed for by public money especially when I’m trying to further that research in a way that will benefit to society at least as much as it would benefit me. - Comment on Funky guys I found in my last hunt. 5 weeks ago:
Lactarius deliciosus
This name suits a cheese better than a mushroom

Even lemmy, which is small in comparison has enough people that I barely even think about specific users. Let alone speak with them on a personal level.
I have a different experience but I’m on a very smaller instance than .world. Your instance is big, generalist but their is lots of them that are location- or topic-oriented. Such instances are not only smaller with a more personnalised local thread but the people on it share already identified common points with you.

- Comment on Would you consider making a sandwich to be "cooking?" 1 month ago:
It you cook the sandwich, the bread, or any part of the filling, yes. If you toast your bread and warm up your ingredients in a pan, why not ? But if you are just cuting and filling. You’re assembling a sandwich, not cooking it.
