I am quite similar and it turns out I’m on the autistic spectrum. I was excited to discover this as it explained sooo much about myself. Just my 2 cents
- Comment on Is it possible to install my own OS on a "smart" TV? Is that a thing? 1 day ago:
I believe that’s called a monitor. Just buy a bigass monitor or projector.

Exactly what I was going to comment. Why did it take this fucking long to see this?
Fortunately I gave up on society and built my own solar array years ago. If you’re depending on anyone but yourself to survive in this hellscape you’re going to be fucked.
- Comment on Is it cheaper to use a plug-in oil radiator to eat an individual room, or run the central heater to heat an individual room and living room? 2 weeks ago:
Run both. Central to keep the house from freezing and radiators to make whichever room(s) comfortable.
- Comment on What do I put down on my resume? 2 weeks ago:
You’ll be recertifying at every company you work for (pretty sure that’s an OSHA requirement). Start making a list of all the equipment you’ve used with dates and certs, and let that grow on your resume. The longer that list gets, the more people you’re going to beat out for jobs. Just the fact that the list exists will put you over the majority of warehouse applicants.

Yeah nobody is talking about the insanely fun multiplayer! That shit had us laughing hysterically for hours!
- Comment on How are scammers getting my email address? 2 weeks ago:
Look up “National Private Data Breach”. You’ll find a bunch of articles on it. Although someone else posted a newer one that I haven’t heard about so maybe that one’s worse. I would highly suggest that everyone put a freeze on your credit until you need to apply for something. Lots of identify theft happening since this occured.
- Comment on How are scammers getting my email address? 2 weeks ago:
A few months ago was the largest data breach possibly ever. Something like 300GB of personal information. Basically everyone in the US. They have everything on everyone and it’s being passed all around on the dark web like skittles. The mainstream media didn’t cover this for whatever reason.
- Comment on Is lemmy really any different from reddit? 2 weeks ago:
The two communities are vastly different, in size, mentality and number of bots.

No way you’re raising two kids and putting them both through college for under a million. Not in today’s economy and certainly not in the hellscape we’ll be in 18 years from now.
- Comment on "You'll end up in a van down by the river" if you do drugs, don't go to college, etc. advice never includes the warning: "Don't suffer major Depression that gives you complete apathy for existence." 3 weeks ago:
Still depressed but now have second degree burns
- Comment on Why do cell phones have a data limit but home internet doesn't? 3 weeks ago:
In the past it was due to technical constraints.
Now it’s just greed.
- Comment on Not allowed to work from home 3 weeks ago:
Previous pay stubs I suppose. Depending on the employer you may have something in writing. This typically wouldn’t be contract if you’re an employee without a union.
- Comment on Not allowed to work from home 3 weeks ago:
You must not be in america. We’re lucky if we get breaks.

Most people don’t understand how dire their situation is when mother nature shows up. Especially immigrants who may have never experienced such weather.

Seriously! As a Floridian, I’ve told bosses I’m leaving on several occasions. It wasn’t a request. I’ll be back when it’s safe to do so.

Reminds me of how everyone is now misusing the term “ROM” to mean “Storage” when it actually means “Read-Only Memory”. Drives me nuts every time I see it in advertising.
- Comment on Why do phone manufacturers use in-display fingerprint readers instead of fingerprint readers on the power button? 1 month ago:
This so much! And it’s eragonomic no matter which hand you use. My new phone has it on the power button and it’s just ok. I miss having a rear touch sensor.
- Comment on Why do social workers get upset when you don't want their help? 1 month ago:
So true. If you’re not following the life script people freak the fuck out. Want to live in a vehicle? Don’t want kids? Don’t want to be married? Into BDSM? Your political views land on both sides? People just don’t know what to do with anyone that doesn’t fit in a box.
- Comment on There is no history on the History channel. There's nothing true on TruTV. There's no music on music television. There's no science on the science channel. 2 months ago:
I think that’s around the same time I cut the cord. I moved shortly after 9/11 and didn’t see the point in subscribing. I left my (CRT) TV behind too rather than waste space in the truck for it. I haven’t owned a TV since.
