- Comment on Anime studio bankruptcies and closures continue to rise for third consecutive year in Japan 3 days ago:
Maybe if they stopped churning out the same tired highschool drivel year after year they wouldn’t be sinking into obscurity.
- Comment on The Future of Advertising Is AI Generated Ads That Are Directly Personalized to You 4 days ago:
Naa this is from the documentary “Idiocracy”. You should watch it. There are a lot of accurate predictions even though it’s kind of old now.
- Comment on I spent 18 months training generative AI – here’s what I learned 5 days ago:
I did the same shit for what sounds like the same company. It was just as chaotic for me as this article describes. Nobody there seemed to have been there more than a year. Most were only a month or two in.
I actually loved the job and the flexibility. I thought it wouldn’t happen to me because my quality of work was so good. I even got promoted. Then a week after being promoted I got removed like everyone else. The reason they have was “low quality”, yet my numbers were excellent. I argued, why would I be promoted if I was going poorly? Then they ghosted me.
It takes intelligent people to train a chatbot to be intelligent, but the billionaires want cheap labor to do this.

- Comment on Apple is reportedly getting ready to introduce ads to its Maps app 1 week ago:
I’m so tired of hearing people cry about banking apps. If you’ve got a working web browser you’ll survive.
- Comment on Apple is reportedly getting ready to introduce ads to its Maps app 1 week ago:
Open Street Maps doesn’t do any of this bullshit.
- Comment on TrueNAS 25.10 Open-Source NAS Released with NVMe-oF, ZFS Enhancements 1 week ago:
This article reads like a corporate job ad written by an HR manager instead of somebody that actually knows matching about the subject. I had to bail.

Facts.
- Comment on How often do you update software on your servers? 1 week ago:
On Windows, almost never since it was a disruptive shitshow. Now that I’ve got everything running Linux it’s weekly. Often sooner if I happen to be remoting in and manually update.

Then it will spring up again since the entire database is freely available.

How many lifetimes of tax dollars were taken just to roll that shit off the side of a boat?

At least where I’m at, Spectrum also blocks a lot of ports. Can’t even use FTP!
- Comment on How can a US state block porn? 1 week ago:
Porn sites don’t really want to comply with the ID laws. They’re doing just enough to not get fined by the Land of the Free. They want you to use a VPN so they can continue to have your business without dealing with the ID bullshit. If your IP is not in a bible state they have no reason to believe that they must comply.

Wasn’t this post spammed the other day on multiple unrelated communities? It may have been deleted/blocked by mods.

If you’re looking to buy in bulk:
- Comment on Reducing power consumption of a desktop PC 2 weeks ago:
Something that I’d like to point out that a lot of people seem to miss, is that power saving is not always about saving money.
I live off-grid, so for me it’s about not draining my battery bank, which is a precious and limited resource. It can make the difference between getting by on solar power or having to run a generator to recoup the losses.
Running a generator uses fuel (another limited resource), it’s loud, and produces heat and exhaust. It’s the last thing I ever want to do if I can avoid it. Depending on the time and location it may not even be an option.

- Comment on So, did a new printer drop? LOL 3 weeks ago:
How many sponsorships have you gotten?
- Comment on So, did a new printer drop? LOL 3 weeks ago:
It was a general statement about youtube sponsorships.
I am not privy to Bambu Labs clauses. In fact, I have never heard of this company.
- Comment on 3 weeks ago:
My biggest takeaway from that article is that Google has been charging website owners to train their AI for them. What a bunch of greedy cunts.
- Comment on So, did a new printer drop? LOL 3 weeks ago:
More often than not, they are signing an agreement to not say anything negative in order to get the sponsorship.
- Comment on Flashbacks scenes in Movies/TV should be depicted as being more blurry than present scenes, since most people can't actually remember a past event that accurately. 4 weeks ago:
Please let this all be a simulation that I’ll wake up from!
- Comment on I'm tired of teen superheroes 4 weeks ago:
This is even worse with anime! Back in the 90’s anime had men and women doing awesome shit. There was sex and violence. There were characters I could relate to.
Now it’s all teens. Spineless boys who piss themselves at the sight of a female. Everything is PG. No badasses or relatable characters (unless you’re 12 I guess).
I love the medium but I hate that 95% of the time the target audience is children.
- Comment on Why aren't those into bondage and S/M called "leatherosexuals"? 4 weeks ago:
Because bondage, S&M and the leather community are all different things. Sure they’re all under the kink umbrella but that doesn’t mean somebody into one thing is into All of the other things. Most people I’ve met in the leather community aren’t even into bondage.

I think this is somewhat true on X, Meta’s platforms and Reddit but not so on lemmy.
- Comment on Why are podcasters/vloggers suddenly holding tiny mics? 5 weeks ago:
That was a great watch, but I think it’s actually more simple than that. Content creators want to focus on their content. If it is now considered acceptable to have a mic on camera, hiding it is one less thing they have to deal with while shooting.
I do find it extremely odd to hold a lav mic though. Maybe that’s the only mic they own. I donno.
