- Comment on That Portal 64 demake we liked so much has been kiboshed by Valve: 'They have asked me to take the project down,' creator says 10 months ago:
Black Mesa was also limited by valve in some minor ways
I remember being at PAX East in 2019 before COVID, and they had a booth there. They had big box copies of Black Mesa which I thought was really cool, I wanted to buy one just to have on display. But they said valve actually said they weren’t allowed to sell them. It was only for a promotional purposes at the booth.

EV’s have been around since the dawn of ICE cars pretty much.

Never say never. Lol
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, innovation can wildly subvert expectations.
- Comment on Smartphone manufacturers still want to make foldables a thing 10 months ago:
I loved my z fold 3. Took too many falls and the inside screen had it. Would happily get another if they weren’t so expensive.

Idk about renting, sounds like ass.
A core charge would make more sense, like swapping propane tanks you get a discount for having the empty core with you.

I don’t think they intended to release anything ever. But there was so much attention an them they had to release something.
They got funding from a Kickstarter right?

- Comment on FDA approves cure for sickle cell disease, the first treatment to use CRISPR 11 months ago:
CliniMACS plus/prodigy, LOVO, G-Rrex and other expensive instruments.
Grade B suites with grade A BSC’s and all the trained personnel to work on it.
Shit costs a lot of money.
- Comment on FDA approves cure for sickle cell disease, the first treatment to use CRISPR 11 months ago:
Manufacturing costs alone are insane. I work in biopharma, specifically manufacturing.
Most of these drugs you see on headlines are made from the blood of the patient. You can’t mass produce that.
- Comment on FDA approves cure for sickle cell disease, the first treatment to use CRISPR 11 months ago:
It’s actually not expensive just because. They don’t manufacture this stuff in a pill packing plant with an automated machine that just churns this out.
Cell therapy takes blood from a patient and manufacturers with it to make the drug. It’s made manually by a team of people for a specific patient. The material costs alone are a quarter of the price in most cases.
Cell therapy ain’t cheap.

A lot of people. Bunch of my coworkers were hyped about the release.
- Comment on YSK that if your turn signal is blinking unusually fast (like 3 or more times a second), it generally means you have a bulb out. 11 months ago:
Q5 and a4 drivers use signals. If it’s an S model they do not 😂
- Comment on I remember getting a PS3 just to avoid this back then 11 months ago:
Also good thing to note, a decent pc build will usually outlast a console in being able to play the latest games. There’s still people with PC’s built when the ps3 came out that are playing CS2 just fine.

Running in docker on my unraid server. Happens consistently without fail
- Comment on Plex Users Fear New Feature Will Leak Porn Habits to Their Friends and Family 11 months ago:
Cause jellyfin has all the telltale signs of a half baked open source project, and plex doesn’t.
- Comment on Plex Users Fear New Feature Will Leak Porn Habits to Their Friends and Family 11 months ago:
Jellyfin balloons to 6gb ram usage after a week while plex stays at 400mb.
The interface of jellyfin is way less polished and the actual video player UI has a bunch of bad decisions that push more technical babble to the end user that confuses more than helps
I run jellyfin and plex side by side. Everybody has preferred plex over jellyfin on my server.
Literally the only upside for jellyfin is admin created accounts not requiring the end user to sign up themselves.

We don’t need it. It’s just cool tech. I’ve messed around with stable diffusion a lot and it’s a cool tool.
- Comment on Detroit man steals 800 gallons using Bluetooth to hack gas pumps at station 1 year ago:
It’s not as simple as just buying a key online like you make it out to be. This is not a vending machine that has a universal key that works for pretty much everything, the keying on a fleet can be the same, but it’s just like any other car key. Some fleets had wildly different keying, you’d have to go through 20 plus keys before you even got something that was probably similar enough to even start the ignition.
- Comment on Detroit man steals 800 gallons using Bluetooth to hack gas pumps at station 1 year ago:
It’s not all the “same” key like you make out out to be. Yes it’s a fleet vehicle, and yes all vehicles in the same fleet may have the same key. But no, not all ignitions of all Vic cop cars are not the same at all.
- Comment on Detroit man steals 800 gallons using Bluetooth to hack gas pumps at station 1 year ago:
Lol this is not true for crown Vic cop cars at all. I used to own one. They have car keys just like anything else from the era

Unraid is great. Don’t let the FOSS heads say otherwise.
I paid $100 3 years ago, ONCE. Best purchase I’ve ever made.
I’ve tried the foss alternatives after getting familiar with unraid, and I still prefer unraid.

What’s your idle ram usage? After a few weeks uptime it’s sitting at 4GB. Plex is barely at 100mb. Fucking drives me up the wall.
