This graph really just makes me think we are fucked, like really fucked, easily in the span of a human life time, if not a few years.
How will this not have crazy knock on effects?
Yet I still go to work and plan for the future and just live my life in some sort of daze. Still tell myself I’ll find a wife and have kids one day.
I wonder of I just allow myself to live the ignorance is bliss life, the embodiment of the “this is fine” meme, like so many on this world. Easier just to go with the human flow as we slowly all jump off the cliff like a herd of buffalo.

As a slight positive it will hopefully reduce the reliance on wide spread pesticides and fertilizers.

- Comment on Have We Reached Peak AI? 9 months ago:
I think GPT5 will be eye opening. If it is another big leap ahead then we are not in this local maxima, if it is a minor improvement then we may be in a local maxima.
Likely then the focus will shift to reducing hardward requirements for inforarance(?) Allowing bigger models to run better on smaller hardware

All the benchmarks put the equivalent Nvidia cards almost 2x more in Stable Diffusion tomshardware.com/…/stable-diffusion-benchmarks
I hope that is an old benchmark and times have changed, but I can’t find anything like it that is more recent.
For a bit of my soul I get a lot more ai power.
AI works on AMD but the speed doesn’t seem to be anywhere near Nvidia.
- Comment on File over App Philosophy 9 months ago:
I wonder this with obsidian also, it is one of the things that keeps me from diving in head first.
It seems a lot of its “powerful” functions are against it’s plain text advantage. However I don’t really see an easy way around it.
At least at the end of the day you or someone else could write a script to modify the plain text files for the next app.

Infinite growth on a world with finite resources, what could go wrong?
If a company doesn’t make their projected 7% gains every year it is front page news and it is deemed a failing business. “ohh no we only made 120 million dollars this year, how will we feed the shareholders kids”
- Comment on Jensen Huang says even free AI chips from his competitors can't beat Nvidia's GPUs 9 months ago:
And for AI at home? Since this is a story about AI DataCenters
I want to get an AMD but the integration of Nvidia GPUs for processing ML/AI stuff is much higher. So if I want to mess with running AI at home I only have 1 choice.
I hope AMD release something that competes on that front, and can still play games on the weekend, but currently, he is right there is no competition

It does but it is plus email addresses. So any half smart spammer will just remove anything in between the + and the @ With proton it is an entirely unique email address that cannot easily be tracked back to your email.
- Comment on Sustaining Proton’s mission over time | Proton 10 months ago:
I find unless you use the proton password manager the alias feature is too hard to manage from mobile anyway.
Maybe I’ll convert from my current manager to it, but I do like the idea of alias emails.

Unasked for advice, just be careful drinking coffee too late in the afternoon that it doesn’t turn into a habbit. It can drastically the amount of deep sleep you get at night, making you tired the next day, wanting my coffee, then repeat while slowly upping the amount of coffee.
Otherwise hot drinks seem to be soothing for a large number of people

- Comment on “Wherever you get your podcasts” is a radical statement - Anil Dash 10 months ago:
Tangentially Speaking by Chris Ryan.
He interviews interesting people, some famous, most not. The latest episode was with a guy he happened to meet at a party and thought he had an interesting story.
As the name implies he is very happy to go off on tangents, so the episodes can end up in topics you never would have guessed from the guest description.
Word of warning he does tend to talk for about 30 minutes at the start of every episode. I personally enjoy it but I know others who it annoys.
- Comment on “Wherever you get your podcasts” is a radical statement - Anil Dash 10 months ago:
I feel him selling out turned me off ever wanting to watch it. He didn’t need the money, he was already super well off. So he just showed that he didn’t value his listeners, he knew he would lose some but didn’t care.
Compared to my favorite podcast that offers people to email him if they can’t afford the paid stuff because he just wants people to be able to listen.

- Comment on My thoughts on the Australia Day date 11 months ago:
I disagree. As much as this country has faults, show me a nation on this earth that doesn’t?
This country is unique and beautiful and should be celebrated. We have 364 other days of the year to focus on making it an even better country we should leave at least 1 day of the year to celebrate it’s positives.
I’m open to the date changing, but it should not be removed entirely.
Speak to any immigrant who worked so hard to stay in this country, why they like it more than there home country.
We have many things to be thankful for, let’s take a moment to put down the aggression and rally together as one nation, who did fight side by side, who do care for this country, who are more alike then many would notice.
I beleive having some solidarity would probably go a long way in helping to further relations, to help to work towards righting past and present wrongs. Even in WW2 they stopped fighting in places to share a Christmas meal together (I think it was Christmas)
To abolish it will do nothing more than drive this nation further apart, when we need to be trying as hard as we can to do the exact opposite.
- Comment on It is essential to stop using Chrome. Under the pretense of saving users from third-party spyware, Google is creating an ecosystem in which Chrome itself is the spyware. 11 months ago:
Hoping someone can help explain this to me.
I understand Google is making some fairly sweeping changes to chrome that negatively affect the free internet. To what extent does that filter down into.the chromium based browsers? I have been struggling to find any relevant information on this, everyone just talks about it like they are all unique browsers
I have been using Vivaldi and really enjoying it, but it is chromium based, so of course it could be helping to support these changes, indirectly.
Thanks in advance

- Comment on What is an average person living in the US supposed to do about corporations raising prices? 11 months ago:
As a non American the gun argument for being able to rebel seems like such an empty argument. Assuming you mod your rifle to full automatic fire you are going up against tanks, jets, drones, artillery, the entire armed forces of one of the strongest military forces on this planet. Ak47s didn’t work out so well for Iraq why do you think you will be different?
- Comment on What is an average person living in the US supposed to do about corporations raising prices? 11 months ago:
I would highly recommended finding other sources of joy. Buying things has been proven again and again to just give small bursts of happiness that quickly fade, this is the cycle these corporations often feed on.
Look into cheap hobbies you can do. Recovering from getting used to these small hits of joy isn’t always easy, but it will give you back more control of your life. I’m not perfect at this myself but I am much more aware of it and able to say no in the majority of my life.
You could also look into Minimalisim, there are some interesting ideas in there to be adopted, even if you don’t eat the whole pie.

The stock price will fall if we don’t make more money then we did last year.
- But why? Because we are legally obliged to do what is best for shareholder, or they can sue us.
- Right so the company needs to make more money again and again and again until the company or the world dies About sums it up

I’m not sure if that is the right photo somehow, or these people are not so worried about the water cannon. The people in the front are wearing swimwear, and the people in the back seem to be cheering for it to go to them.
Generally water cannons hit so hard they knock people off their feet, or wake people atleast run away.
