- Comment on Has Fast Food Gotten Worse, or Am I Just Getting Old? 1 week ago:
What a fantastic story! I could feel the warm sun, and taste the fresh vegetables. It really brought a smile to my face. I remember growing up in the late 80’s and my parents had an old man neighbor with a garden. He used to give tomatoes to me and my siblings and we would sit on the back steps with a salt shaker and just shake some salt on them and eat them like they were apples. They were delicious! For years I have wondered if my memory was serving me wrong, or if tomatoes have just gotten flavorless over the years. I’m happy to hear it’s not just me.

Roasted broccoli squad checking in. This guy’s is missing out.
Actually most vegetables. Roast them in the oven with a tiny bit of oil, salt, and pepper. They always come out delicious.

Cool. So now I can expect Nintendo to start a DMCA takedown campaign of all their music on YouTube, and completely destroy the playlists I made.

- Comment on Feds Say You Don’t Have a Right to Check Out Retro Video Games Like Library Books 3 weeks ago:
Industry groups argued that those museums didn’t have “appropriate safeguards” to prevent users from distributing the games once they had them in hand.
And what exactly is stopping me from scanning library books and uploading them online? Are you going to ban libraries too?
Actually, let’s not give them ideas.
- Comment on Windows Recall is secretly installed on non-Copilot+PCs (Privacy Nightmare) 4 weeks ago:
Mentioned this in another comment. Take that second dism line, and put it in a batch script and make it a scheduled task that runs at login. Or use a Powershell script to make it a little smarter - check if it’s enabled first and then disable it if it is.
Modern problems require modern solutions.
- Comment on Windows Recall is secretly installed on non-Copilot+PCs (Privacy Nightmare) 4 weeks ago:
You need to make a Powershell script or batch that uninstalls/turns off the feature and then make a scheduled task that runs the ps1/bat at login.
Its insane that this is what you have to do to keep this shit off your system, but it’s effective.
I had to do this with New Outlook because it kept reinstalling after Windows updates.

- Comment on AI bots now beat 100% of those traffic-image CAPTCHAs 1 month ago:
Yeah, my understanding is that these capchas were made to harvest data to use for AI/Autopilot driven cars. That’s why they are always having you identify motorcycles, bycicles, crosswalks, stoplights, busses, etc. It’s all stuff that automatic driving cars have had a hard time identifying.

Star Wars is 100% a Space Fantasy. A boy goes on an adventure accompanied by a wizard to save a princess and become a knight.
- Comment on Microsoft finally officially confirms it's killing Windows Control Panel sometime soon 2 months ago:
Honestly wouldn’t even be that difficult to build. Windows is just a GUI for Powershell anyway.
- Comment on 2.9 billion hit in one of the largest data breaches ever — full names, addresses and SSNs exposed 3 months ago:
Is there a simple way to find out if your Information was in this leak, and what information it is? I use haveibeenpwned for leaks linked to my email address, but from I read in this article, it’s not linked to my email address.
So how do I found out if my data was leaked without paying for a credit monitoring service?
- Comment on Samsung delivers 600-mile solid-state EV battery as it teases 9-minute charging and 20-year lifespan tech 3 months ago:
And if I understand correctly, they are safer because there is less chance of parts touching inside. I don’t know the correct t terminology, but one of the big problems with current li-ion batteries is that if they get physically damaged, parts inside can touch, which basically starts a short/chain reaction that turns into a dangerous thermal runaway.
Also if I remember correctly the guy that invented li-ion invented some kind of solid state battery with glass right before he died. I’m assuming this technology stems from that.
Please correct me if I’m wrong on any of this. Knowledge is power.

Ahh yes. Reminds me of my teenage years. Experimenting with Marijuana, pirated MP3s, and the Milkdrop visualization plugin for Winamp. Those were good times… Real good times.

It’s going to be relentlessly compared to OverWatch. It’s basically an OverWatch clone with Marvel characters.

- Comment on Monthly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing? 7 months ago:
Tomb Raider (2013).
I just finished Dave the Diver and I was going through the backlog of unplayed games on my Steam Deck. I’m not even sure when I bought this game, I feel like it may have come with a humble bundle or a graphics card. Anyway, I’m about 3 hours in and so far it’s pretty great!
- Comment on Which Mortal Kombat games across the years should I start with? 7 months ago:
Probably “Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero”. Definitely the peak of Mortal Kombat as a whole, and defined everything we know about the series.
And for the love of Christ, /s if anybody didn’t pick up on it.

I think you can install all the normal streaming apps on Kodi as well. It definitely takes more know-how than using something like a Roku or smart TV, but FOSS be like that sometimes.

- Comment on acceptable screws 7 months ago:
I don’t do electrical work. I’m usually taking the outlet covers off for painting walls. And I like to paint with the lights on.
- Comment on acceptable screws 7 months ago:
Yup, I’ve noticed that spanner screws (the two dots) are usually found on elevator control panels. There is no reason that somebody should be able to open those up with a Swiss army knife.
- Comment on acceptable screws 7 months ago:
I hate slot screws because they are easy to slip out of, and the place that I find them the most is always outlet covers. Like… What the fuck? Why are you gonna put the most easy to slip out of screw next to the most dangerous to slip into hole?!
- Comment on Mystical land pirates (with pizza) 8 months ago:
I delivered pizza for a few years in my early years, and poorly lit addresses were the absolute worst. I was delivering in the pre-smartphone but post mapquest era, and we had a computer in the shop with a touch screen (which was crazy at the time) map on it so you could figure out where we were going. But God forbid you ended up on a one way street looking for an address that was poorly labeled or unlit and you got somebody behind you laying on their horn… At some point I bought a 1000 candle spotlight that I used at night, and that got me pulled over several times because people would fall the police about “a slow driving car shining a spotlight out of its window”… Like… For fucks sake. I’m just trying to deliver some pizza.
With that said, while working I smoked a bunch of weed, listened to a bunch of good music, and generally got tipped well so… It was a good time.
- Comment on Pixelfed introduces Loops, a Short-Form Video App 8 months ago:
People keep asking about storage and that’s a valid concern. I remember a while ago Linus made a video about a crypto that can be mined with storage. So he made a huge raid of old drives. I wonder if something like this could or would be practical for a decentralized storage solution. Like… Encourage people to set up NAS’s that can be used sort of like torrent seeding for a decentralized video platform and reward them with crypto.
I dunno… Just thinking out loud.
