- Comment on The problem of cross-community posting 1 week ago:
What if a post was its own separate thing, detached from the communities. You then “attach” the post to one or more communities.
When a user comments on a post, the comment “comes from community xyz” but all comments are attached to the post not the community.
Lemmy applications can choose to filter comments from one or more communities or show them all.

I guess the research doesn’t have to be limited to signal. If other apps can benefit from it the more resilient “private communications over the internet” get.

- Comment on Spotify to raise prices in September 3 months ago:
I also just switched to Qobuz. I like to listen to albums and playlists. The UI is more minimal than Spotify which I enjoy. I like the fact it’s not constantly trying to push new things like podcasts, concerts etc. on me. I just want to listen to music and pay the artists for it!

What do you think of Qobuz? From what I’ve seen, it’s got more stuff than bandcamp (at least from my library). It seems to pay the artists well too.

Ads don’t fuel a free internet. They fuel a business model. The free internet is fueled by the time and donations of kind, dedicated people.
I believe this to be true.
