- Comment on The Steam controller was ahead of its time 6 days ago:
Yeah thats kind of the point. It doesnt have 2 joysticks so I just buy an Xbox one instead. So it cant compete with the gold standard of crontrollers.
And you can say it has pursose in non controller games but its still worse than a traditional keyboard and mouse in that repect as well as a keyboard with an integrated trackpack.
So theres maybe a small niche of playing non controller games in situations where you dont have a desk and you dont want to use an integrated keyboard, where it does a bit better than the competition. Any other situation you have better options. Which IMO if its worse in most use cases and only a bit better than the competetion in designed niche, then its not really a good product.
- Comment on The Steam controller was ahead of its time 6 days ago:
No. The touch pads were fucking stupid and it needed 2 actual joysticks.
Any move towards less physical controls and feedback is bad.

Eh, until we’re truly a post scarcity society (if such a thing is even possible) scientist would have to justify use of resources no matter what the system we use.

Do you not remember the time Shigeru Miyamoto destabilised a small African nation in order to send in send in his private security force (they have little goomba helmets it’s adorable!) to overthrow the government and take other under the guise of being a “peacekeeping” force and then proceeded to force all the inhabitants to work in their factories making Amibos, or punished dissenters by forcing them to work as game devs??
It was pretty big news at the time.

They didn’t cause the potato blight but they absolutely caused the famine by forcing the export of the remaining food stock which was more than enough to feed the population.
That’s litterally exactly what I said.
- Comment on More like a bacterial infection imo 4 weeks ago:
The British didn’t cause the famine, they “just” made it worse.
And really it’s not even “the british” that are to blame. It was the rich land owners that continued to export the food grown in Ireland in order to make profit and the conservative (well, whig, but they are the spiritual predecessor to the modern conservatives and where politically conservative at the time) government that stopped and aid and refused to ban exporting food out of Ireland as they believed the famine was divine providence.

- Comment on We Should Immediately Nationalize SpaceX and Starlink 5 weeks ago:
After Russia brutally suppressed their independence, then sent 10 million of them off to die to protect Russians. Which you keep wilfully ignoring.
Ukrainians didn’t want to be under Russian rule. It’s wild the mental gymnastics you’re doing to excuse Russia allying with Hitler himself to steal foreign land. So I’ll say again, the fact those regions were mistreated under Poland does mean it’s okay to invade them and colonise them.
Like you can find examples of time were colonial countries “”“liberated”“” foreign nations in much the same way, putting them under a different boot and treating them marginally better than the last guy. But if a colonial apologist gave you that argument you would (rightly) not accept it, would you?
- Comment on We Should Immediately Nationalize SpaceX and Starlink 5 weeks ago:
I took one look at you describing the “liberating” of Poland by the soviets because some of it belongs to different modern day countries and new you weren’t arguing in good faith. Invading another country and stealing their land doesn’t magically become “”“liberation”“” just because it was stolen by someone else first.
You can use this same logic to excuse the nazi invasion of certain countries as well.
- Comment on Happy anniversary of the day absolutely nothing happened at nowhere square! 5 weeks ago:
Lmao, first time beat a tankie in an argument so thoroughly that they try to claim the Molotov Ribbentrop pact is just CIA propaganda, lol.
- Comment on We Should Immediately Nationalize SpaceX and Starlink 5 weeks ago:
… only after they were betrayed by Hitler after they allied themselves with the Nazis to invade Poland.
And then raped and killed civilians in the countries they “liberated” by forcing millions of people from their Eastern European vasal states to die to protect the Russians.
Then replaced Nazism with a slightly different authoritarian system that opresses it’s people and performs ethnic cleansings, but has a red and gold cost of paint.
And then also exploited the global south, but just weren’t as good at it as the west, and filtered even more of what was exploited up the chain to the party leaders.
And tried to make up for that lack in ability to exploit the global south by exploring Eastern Europe.
Communist we’re allied with the nazis at the start of the war and as someone who’s great grandmother fled Poland to the UK to avoid being rapes and murdered by the red army, I will never forgive them for that.
- Comment on Happy anniversary of the day absolutely nothing happened at nowhere square! 5 weeks ago:
Again ignoring the fact that Russia fucking agreed with hitler to invade Poland, and the mass rapes and lilling of polish civilians as they “”“liberated”“” them because it doesn’t align with your narrative so you just fucking ignore it, then you wonder why I’m not taking you seriously?
Yes they obtained limited authority…then the soviets marched their army into Ukraine, brutally suppressed any resistance and then took away that autonomy. And you just ignore the whole invasion thing because it doesn’t align with your narrative.
Yes, I could make that argument with the Belarusians too, thank you for making a great point for me. The Russians sent other people to die for them then claimed as if it was the entire soviet union that suffered these losses when the vast majority of them were non Russian eastern Europeans, and to answer your question I mentioned ukraine, 1. Because they lost 10,000,000 people. And 2. Because we were talking about Ukraine.
No I’m not siding with the nazis, but you know who did? The fucking soviets when they agreed to invade Poland together. Also look up the Russian penal battalion and order no. 227 they forced “punishees” to charge en mass against enemy positions while the red army set up blocking battalions behind then to stop them from retreating, sometimes even executing soldiers that would try to retreat. This is well documented and not something you can just randomly claim didn’t happen. But I do expect you to ignore it as usual since it doesn’t fit the narrative.
What part did I not acknowledge?
All of it? You’ve just ignored it entirely this whole time.
There was a hunger episode
Fucking lmao, thank you, this was exactly the kind of insane mental gymnastics I was expecting. Calling a man made famine a “”“hunger episode”“” fucking hell.
What? Eastern Germany saw collasal investment after they were reintegrated? You are right about the west developing in favourable conditions though, because they weren’t fucking brutally opressed by the soviets. Something that is also very very well documented but that you choose to ignore and deflect by talking about the global south as if the soviet union didn’t exploit materials and cheap labour in exactly the same way. Which is again an inconvenient truth to you, so you just pretend it didn’t happen.
Oh yeah the classic tankie reaction of losing an argument of “anyone that disagrees with my authoritarianism is a nazi” that’s still used by modern day Russia to do things like justify it’s invasion of Ukraine. And ironically enough is basically just the Nazis “cultural marxism” bullshit in reverse. But yeah keep glazing for the totalitarian undemocratic state that opressed its people performed ethnic cleansing of minorities and invaded it’s neighbours while calling other people indistinguishable from Nazis without a hint of irony. This is why sensible and smart people hate you boot kicking troglodytes, because its still just authoritarianism, but wrapped in a red an yellow wrapper, and you people are so incredibly fucking stupid you actually fall for that. Honestly it’s a miracle you lot don’t straight up support hitler since his party had “socialist” in its name, but I guess the decades of soviet propaganda can override raw stupidity.
- Comment on We Should Immediately Nationalize SpaceX and Starlink 5 weeks ago:
No, we just hate people that glaze ruthless dictators and genocidal maniacs whose whole ethos was contradictory to the very idea of communism just because they had a red flag.
- Comment on Happy anniversary of the day absolutely nothing happened at nowhere square! 5 weeks ago:
Oh yeah I’m sure the Polish people are so glad the soviets “saved them from Nazism” after they struck a deal with hitler and invaded their country together. And I’m sure they were even more greatful when the soviet soldiers rated their way through Poland on their way to Berlin.
I’m sure the Ukrainians appreciate the Russians brutally suppressing their independence, forcing them to die en mass against the Nazis, often times not even being armed and sent to the front lines, then having their natural resources stripped, opressed and subject to genocide.
And it’s frankly beyond telling you refuse to even acknowledge my points about Holodomor, because doing so would mean you either have to acknowledge the atrocities committed by the soviets, or go full nutjob conspiracy theorist on it to deny it happened or try and claim it wasn’t actually the soviets fault.
And as for your points about standards of counties, you only have to look at Germany. Wasters Germany still feels the effects of soviet oppression to this day, it’s falls behind the west of thr country in almost every metric. Lookup the Brehznev doctrine that the soviets used to retroactively justify it’s invasion of Czechoslovakia and their policy of “Russofication” which to anyone with eyes is blatant cultural imperialism. There deportations of multiple ethnic groups to wastelands in the east of Russia in order to cleanse those areas and replace them with ethnic Russians while also getting a defacto slave work force.
I fucking hate tankies so much.
- Comment on Happy anniversary of the day absolutely nothing happened at nowhere square! 5 weeks ago:
I mean yeah capitalism and imperialism go hand in hand.
But you’re willfully ignoring when “communist” countries do the same. Do you think the soviet oppression of eastern Europe is fundamentally different than the European oppression of Africa
And no, I’m talking about ww2, I’m talk about Holodomor and the Great Chinese Famine. I’m sure you’ll try and find excuses for them like a capitalist would for the bengal or Irish famines.
- Comment on Happy anniversary of the day absolutely nothing happened at nowhere square! 5 weeks ago:
God you’re so fucking stupid.
The point is industrialisation is what lifts people out of poverty. You pointing out imperialism is bad doesn’t change that, does it?
Also are you going talk about Soviet invasion and genocide in eastern Europe or Chinese manufactured famines and child labour?
- Comment on Happy anniversary of the day absolutely nothing happened at nowhere square! 5 weeks ago:
Now tally up all the people in capitalist countries who were “relieved from extreme poverty” during their industrialisation period. And did so without causing massive famines because they had a wierd hate-boner for sparrows.
