Like the people walking around malls and driving their Tesla with one on? I think those are completely organic. I think for a little while there will be a subset of people who see them as a status symbol and want the attention.

Like Google glasses.

Yes, that one became such a trope it made it all the way to SNL and I doubt Google paid for the advertising.
IWantToFuckSpez@kbin.social 9 months ago
Yeah I've seen videos of people doing the stupidest shit in Teslas with autopilot on. No need for Apple to stage such a scene.

Lemmy is nowhere big enough for any serious company to care about astroturfing here. Someone would probably get fired for suggesting it because of how low-reach Lemmy is right now.
A lot of people are tech or tech-adjacent here. For American devs in HCOL areas, a $3500 device can be completely within their budget.

Op linked reddit posts. Did you click the links?

No, it’s new tech that actually has people excited.

People develop brand loyalty and do their advertisimg for them. Apple has always had a cult following and that is what you are seeing here.
aeronmelon@lemmy.world 9 months ago
I guarantee you Apple would never sign off on someone using a Vision Pro while driving dangerously.
Besides the obvious reason, Apple has a pretty sour relationship with Tesla and Musk.

Can you give an example of a post?
glimse@lemmy.world 9 months ago
I don’t think posts like this are what this community is really for

Branded items are commonplace and are nothing more than neutral objects to some people. They may want to share something interesting without the intent to promote a specific item seen in it.

Apple is good at advertising. Could just be they hype things and people jump aboard the hype train.

PiHolebased and uBlock pilled.

I doubt that these are stealth advertisements but apple know that a vast majority of the people who buy their stuff really, REALLY want others to see that they have them. It’s some deluded prestige/ status thing that they perceive apple products gives them.

People want views on tik Tok, Instagram, and YouTube. Not that deep
MeatsOfRage@lemmy.world 9 months ago
Bet the third party is just a friend and this is all about the Tiktok views. Apple doesn’t need to do this stealth advertising, social media will do it for them.

Yeah it seems like a great way to get mugged.
