Prices are coming down, but they won't come down a lot until more people buy it, but more people wont buy it unless it's cheaper...
Here's hoping there's some more restrictions imposed on meat.
- Comment on those damn vegans! 8 months ago:
Only a matter of time before plant-based alternatives fully take over from meat. Meat farming is not sustainable, as you mention all the land used to farm food for animals could be used to just farm more food for us directly.
We just have to get rid of the stigma around plant-based "meat".

Just another lesson to wait months after a games release before even considering it.

Its not AR, an AR headset is something like HoloLens, this is just a VR headset with your eyes on the front.
- Comment on Apple Vision Pro Owners Are Struggling to Figure Out What They Just Bought 9 months ago:
If they are, then this vision pro is truly extortion.
VR requires a bit of setup, which is off putting. I dont have the space to have mine out all the time, theres also a shortage of high quality games.

Most modern headsets have passthrough, its not some new feature.

An overpriced VR headset.

It was a tongue in cheek, rhetorical question, regarding what I said before it.
- Comment on Browser maker love-in snubs Google-shunned JPEG XL 9 months ago:
I know, it was a rhetorical question given the stance they take on a lot of things always aligning with what Google wants.

I expected Mozilla to implement this, I don't know how they expect to get marketshare by just following in Google's footsteps every step of the way.

People develop brand loyalty and do their advertisimg for them. Apple has always had a cult following and that is what you are seeing here.

He was though, some people might have known his name from Metal Gear, but majority of people didnt. Then TGA and Death Stranding rolled around and suddenly we were told we should care.

He takes no more 'experimental swings' than hundreds of indie developers.

I know right? He was suddenly hyped up so much, I guess it's one way to sell games. I'd understand if it was Miyamoto or something, but the man made Metal Gear and not everyone has even heard of that.
He was heavily pushed with the game awards partnership he made. - Comment on Raspberry Pi is planning a London IPO, but its CEO expects “no change” in focus 9 months ago:

Nintendo actually try something new with their consoles though, so that's at least good. Everyone should be moving to PC though, you actually have freedom there. I think Steam machines would do pretty good if they came out now.

Yes. Yes. Yes. The whale comment pisses me off, it might have been true initially, but these days the average joe spends so much on this trash.
- Comment on Microsoft Confirms Plans To Release Xbox First Party Games “Across All Platforms”, Including PlayStation 10 months ago:
The only reason anyone wants to sell consoles is to get you locked in that ecosystem and sell you games. They don't make a profit on the hardware, Xbox game pass is their headstart into purely game sales, well a subscription and cloud service that everyone is trying to jump on right now.

Would be missing out on too much revenue, they all come back to Steam every time they try their own stores.

- Comment on YouTube is slowing down for users with ad blockers in new wave 10 months ago:
Ads got too aggressive, people made adblockers, ads got more aggressive because of lost revenue, almost everyone starts using adblockers. They did it to themselves, people were content with simple ads on a page, it's once they started interfering with the content that they became a problem.

- Comment on That Portal 64 demake we liked so much has been kiboshed by Valve: 'They have asked me to take the project down,' creator says 10 months ago:
You are both correct, Valve don't want to deal with Nintendo. Nintendo wouldnt like this project because it uses their proprietary SDK. Portal is Valve's IP, so it would be Valve getting the call from Nintendo (or they already did), so Valve had to request a takedown.

Nintendo could benefit greatly by just allowing these kind of projects, but that would be out of character.
- Comment on Google Will Now Back Right-to-Repair 10 months ago:
Sure, but most people wouldn't even want to attempt a board replacement and would rather take it to a repair shop. Replacing an entire section of a device because one tiny part is broken is not helping the e-waste problem repairability is trying to work on.
- Comment on Google Will Now Back Right-to-Repair 10 months ago:
TLDW: They are basically advocating for selling assemblies of parts for "user safety". So for example, if one chip on a motherboard was broken, instead of selling the individual part, they want to sell you the entire board with all the other parts attached (which can cost nearly as much as the device was new).
Also went over how they can buy a device cheaper than the cost of buying a genuine part from the manufacturer. They are grabbing good PR headlines with backing one complaint point in the right to repair scene, but then also backing a bunch of anti-repairability in the rest of their post, neatly snuggled away in a bunch of corpo talk bullshittery.
