No War But Class War. Don’t fall into this generational squabble trap.
"There is also a real onward danger, Mr Pringle believes, of older Australians pulling back from the sort of social community activities that are vital for physical and mental health.
“If they are not able to leave their house, because doing so in any way except maybe going for a walk around your block is going to cost you some amount of money, it means that all they’re doing is just trying to get by day-to-day,” he said.
"That’s a really horrible way for somebody to live. "
Young double income homebuyers I work with are already in this situation.
They’re being forced to live like liminals and millenials. It’s shocking!!
I’m not going to cast judgement on specific individuals but it’s difficult to feel empathetic or even sympathetic towards that generation considering all that has happened. Okay, so they’re going to have a more difficult retirement because of the consequences of climate change, which they dragged their feet on addressing for decades…my generation will not only have to live with more severe consequences for longer but we have also repeatedly been told that we’ll have to work longer than these people ever did and maybe not experience a retirement at all. Again, predominately because of their generation’s short-sighted selfishness over the last few decades. Who is the real victim here?
For decades they’ve been being told that there would be no more polar ice caps, that half the country would be underwater, and all sorts of other doomsday “global warming” stories would happen “in the next 10 years”, and none of them happened after 40+ years, nor are they any closer to happening. At some stage people start ignoring the person crying wolf.
“Climate change” isn’t making anything more expensive.
Funny, byo sammiches, no we can’t afford it and all the shit they’re complaining about was something to stop fucking whingeing or i’ll give you something to cry about about when i was a kid.
What happened to that mindset booms? You were the ones that pounded your chests and got it all done with hiiiiiiiigh interest rates.
agreed, i read the story a couple days ago and am only a few years younger with little sympathy for them. It also reeks of entitlement.
and it’s odd they say there’s no chance of their house flooding and then complain about the price of flood insurance. I don’t have flood insurance because i live on a hill, that was a deliberate choice in the face of climate change.
My insurer said flood insurance was extra (a significant amount) so I chose not to get it. I’m a long way from the nearest river and feel I could move the most valuable things if needed.
Im too busy getting fucked at both ends to care about the boomers that are still hanging around
